HDBeat has a buying guide on what to get yourself, or your resolution-challenged loved ones, this holiday season. Several tiers are included:

Budget of a high school student or college freshman: $0-$499
Budget of a live-at-home 20-something or productive young adult: $500-$999
Budget of older gamers or those that have parents with deep pockets: $1000-$1999
Credit, credit, credit: $2,000 plus

Let's see, I'm a productive young adult so why is it that $500-$999 still sounds so expensive? Resist. The. Urge.

This was my solution to the HDTV issue. I couldn't afford a huge plasma or LCD, so for $900 I went with a 30" Samsung SlimFit CRT which is capable of 1080i and 720p. I have been very pleased with it and can't wait to plug get a 360 plugged into it. Check it out here:

I just went ahead, took out a second mortgage on the house, and bought a 50" plasma. It's painful to say, but I bought it 2 years ago and it cost me $10,000. Yeah, that's AMERICAN... not Pesos. But when I get my 360 tomorrow, it may have all been worth it. (H3RP35 laughs evily...)
