Nintendo and Sony line up in support of Xbox 360 launch

Nintendo and Sony each had a huge presence at Xbox 360 launch lines across North America last night and today. PSPs and Nintendo DSs were definitely the platforms of choice to help folks pass the long hours.
A quick -- and unofficial -- count at one line in Dallas, Texas revealed 22 PSPs, 17 DSs and 6 Gameboy SPs (out of about 150 people in line.) Thankfully, the Gizmondo sat this one out entirely.
So, what did you play (and play on) while waiting for your new gaming overlord to arrive?

A group of us waiting in Cincinnati were playing Mario Kart DS multiplayer until the system raffle began, got out too late to have a shot at any of the true lines.
Mario Kart 8-player is so darn cool!

We were rocking the PSP Wi-Fi action at Midtown Manhattan, but I saw at least five people with DSes huddled together as well.

Mad people at my walmart had PSPs and Nintendo DSs. We just battled each other and stuff until they finally gave out the "golden" tickets

Nothing but good conversation and propane-powered space heaters to pass the time outside Target in Fargo, ND.

I only stopped to grab my iPod and a pocket-full of snacks before heading to the only 24hr Walmart within 20 or so miles. Good thing, too, cause I got the very last system after waiting for over 7 hours!!

My girlfriend took my DS on the brave venture to obtain my Xbox 360 for my birthday. She said there were no PSP's to be seen there; 5 DS's out of about 20 people.
She was the first one at that ShopKo, 8 hours early. Not bad compared to other stories I've read.

Maybe there was something wrong with us at the tallahassee best buy (or something wrong with everyone else) but noone played any portable systems. I had my laptop with movies going. Alot of people were "tailgating" which was cooking hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill and drinking beer. Honestly, it looked more like a FSU tailgating party then a bunch of gamers camped out for a new console. It was strange.

My Xbox 360 is the loudest thing I have ever heard. Right when I turned it on I was blown away with the cooling fan noise. I had to turn up the volume on the tv so that I could hear the game over the fan. I am very very very dissapointed with the my new system. I will most likely sell it or something.

Ethan you must have terrible speakers because the system really isnt that loud.
