Major Nelson comments on Xbox 360 availability
Everyone knows that the Xbox 360 is sold-out in North America. But that's about all we know.A lack of official numbers and delivery dates from Microsoft combined with conflicting information from retailers has led to a lot of frustration.
But Major Nelson of Microsoft's Xbox Live team has chimed in with a bit of holiday hope via his personal blog:
"I can tell you that we (Xbox) have a weekly replenishment strategy. That means that we have new shipments of Xbox 360’s being sent out each week. If you hear that a store won’t get Xbox 360 from Microsoft until next year, you may want to gently remind your source that we in fact ARE shipping consoles out each week. The moral of the story is be patient and (once again) don’t believe all the rumors you hear."We'd still like some concrete numbers and shipping dates from MS, but we'll take this info to the bank and keep a close eye on store shelves.

The reason why nobody is throwing around numbers is obvious. Think about it, that piddly initial shipment sent out to stores is the result of a build-up of units over time. The weekly shipments will be even smaller, most likely.
