Xbox team talks backwards compatability

Original Xbox logoThe Xbox Team Blog tries to put to rest some of the most persistent questions regarding what titles are backwards compatible (or back compat as they say) and why. To assist them in their endeavor they queried David Reid, who oversaw back compat for the 360.
  • Gamers: Why won't MegaSpy XII work?! Them: "...some games are harder to do than other games. If your favorite title isn’t working, chances are, it’s honestly just taking longer."
  • Gamers: Are you not porting FightingGuys Alpha because you want us to buy the enhanced version with more photorealistic tattoos for 360? Them: "Nope. The team is probably working on [it] right now."
  • Gamers: How come Game A works but Game B doesn't? Them: "...when we got a Halo 2 to play, other games came along with it. These games had similar technology or engines, and were easier to certify."
We've heard these questions and answers before, ususally involving some variant of Barbie's Horse Adventures and Splinter Cell, but it's nice to hear they haven't forgotten about it. The quest for total back compat continues...

[Thanks, PJ]
