Blazing Angels demo takes off
The Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII
demo is now available on Xbox Live Marketplace for downloadable dogfight action. This is a relatively un-hyped
title that's supposed to better than some may have expected. Amateur fighter pilots please comment with your first air
combat impressions.XBL has turned in solid week for demo freaks with Burnout: Revenge, Blazing Angels, and now Battlefield 2: Modern Combat hitting Thursday.

I thought this game was pretty good actually thinking about buying it
GOD @ Mar 22nd 2006 10:58PM
Just played through the Demo, it's really good. I can't wait for this game to hit. And I really can't wait for BF2.
jaemz @ Mar 22nd 2006 11:11PM
I liked the demo as well. I do hope they can up the visuals a little though...
Now to find money for Blazing Angels, Oblivion, Battlefield and Burnout.
Anyone want to buy a kidney?
jCsickZ @ Mar 22nd 2006 11:32PM
don't sleep on the Ridge Racer 6 demo either, I ended up buying it! It's great! I'll report back after trying Blazing Angels tonight.
Thank god the developers are taking advantage of the downloadable demo system. It is a win-win situation for all involved:
1. Saves gamers time and money by not having to buy OXM for a demo disc.
2. Gamers will end up buying games they didn't plan on buying (take me for example with RR6)resulting in higher sales figures
3. Gamers have an alternative to playing Xbox Live Arcade games and regular 360 titles

I played it, I don't know. I mean the visuals are really good on my 4.3 tv. HDTV would probably look awsome. But I wasn't all that thrilled with the controls. And the fact that when you hit a building they don't crumble. Come on people. Its Next gen. Lets get some of that multi-core processing power to work!!!!!
dutchb0y @ Mar 23rd 2006 1:38AM
Played the Demo.. some redraw "tears" when you're over a populated city area, but the framerate is around 30 (so it seems) and then when it's just water, sky or hills with planes, it zips up closer to 60.
Looks great, plays well (still getting used to a flying game again), don't know if I'll buy, but will certainly rent.
Burnout Revenge is occupying my attention these days...

Damnit, damnit, damnit.
Stop making me want to go out and get an Xbox 360. ;)
I just downloaded The Outfit earlier today and holy crap that game is awesome. I think that's the type of military game I've been looking for.
And BF2:MC demo tomorrow? YES!
xbox gamer @ Mar 23rd 2006 2:10AM
dutchboy...your tv can only give a max of 30 fps if its NTSC, and 25 if its PAL. I would really like to know how you get yours to double what is physicslly possible
john @ Mar 23rd 2006 3:30AM
it was ok it didnt look as good as i was hoping for. But this really isnt my type of game ill most likly pass on this one, glad to see the demo tho
[sinz] @ Mar 23rd 2006 6:33AM
xbox gamer: The HDTV standards include 720p which is 1280x720 at 60fps. Any HDTV can display it. That's how he gets 60fps.
Squaletto @ Mar 23rd 2006 6:47AM
Xbox gamer, correct me if I'm wrong but NTSC run at 60Hz interlaced that mean 60 half frame in a second. PAL run at 50hz that mean 50 half frame a second(some tv have also option for 60Hz). If you have an HDTV you can set 720p at 60Hz that mean 60 frame per second
Logan @ Mar 23rd 2006 7:03AM
Thankfully it reminds me of crimson skies which i loved. Has alot of potential, only thing is i cant be bothered to sit through that training again!!!!
Xboxgamer - Pal and NTSC have no relation to HDTV so 60FPS is easily achievable if ur on HD
jmel @ Mar 23rd 2006 7:19AM
xbox gamer... please research before opening your mouth and inserting your foot.
Cosmo @ Mar 23rd 2006 8:33AM
I played it and not on a crappy tv. The graphics are really good and theres no way they could pull those graphics off on the regular xbox lol
Buil @ Mar 23rd 2006 8:34AM
wasnt planning on buying it, but if the demo is any thing to go by, than it might be a rental, and maybe a purchase once the price drops a bit, not a huge plane/flight game person

"Anyone want to buy a kidney?"
As if one kidney is enough to get you four 360 games :)
dutchb0y @ Mar 23rd 2006 9:08AM
thanks #9..
Yeah, i'm on a Rear-proj. DLP HDTV... so I am getting the 60fps.
I wonder if people on SD sets are benefitting from less resolution, maybe there is no tearing or slowdown...
Also, I hope you can tweak the controls in the final retail version...
djphatjive @ Mar 23rd 2006 9:44AM
I may be wrong. But it can be rendered at any framerate in the actual 360, but when its displayed onto a TV isn't it just converted to 30 or 60 depending on what tv you have?
Duh!!!
Clay @ Mar 23rd 2006 11:24AM
Ugh. Having to CONSTANTLY hold the right stick up to keep the throttle up has, all by itself, convinced me to NOT buy this game... a shame, since I was looking forward to a good flight sim for the 360. I felt like my right thumb was going to fall off last night as I was playing the demo.
Ricky B @ Mar 23rd 2006 12:37PM
I played the game last night. I really didn't know what to think of it before playing it. I gotta tell you, I was really impressed with the game. The graphics are awsome! I agree with number one on the destructable environments. (It is next-gen! Time to step it up) But overall, it's a really good game. I may have to get this one! And for those people trying to sell kidneys, you should try trading in games for credit on new games. You get and extra 20% for every game you trade in towards pre-orders. Just a suggestion! Thas my 2 cents.
Andrew @ Mar 23rd 2006 1:23PM
About that BFMC2 demo being out in Thursday, any specific time? Because it is 10:22 AM right now, and it's not here. Like I expected it to be out at 12 AM Thursday right?!
zenprism @ Mar 23rd 2006 1:57PM
I really liked the demo, but damn there needs to be destructible environments. Get some buildings crumbling under my enormous gun!
And where are the people in the towns? I see some generic (and invincible) soldiers running in unison on the military base, but that's it.
Assbestos @ Mar 24th 2006 8:40AM
Man, the demo totally convinced me not to buy too. The controls have NO YAW. A FLIGHT GAME WITH NO YAW CONTROL. WTF!?!?!? Took me about five minutes to decide to take this off the HD.
Assbestos @ Mar 24th 2006 9:55AM
Yeah, It took me about 5 minutes to decide to delete this demo off the HD. This flight game has no yaw control. A flight game with NO YAW. A huge over sight and a major beef for me. Later Blazing angels; who can't turn right and left without rolling.
Ciaran Gallagher @ Mar 25th 2006 9:51AM
This is definitely one of the best demos yet on the marketplace. Visually, the game looks fantastic... you can fly over huge towns and cities and see tiny trucks, cars and people just milling around. The detail is very impressive too and the landscapes and skies are beautiful. The actualy gameplay is very very good and its really fun, bombing battleships and shooting down planes.
(On the third mission of the demo, you get to fly over London. It looks amazing... you can see thousands of buildings and homes stretching off miles into the distance and you can fly under bridges etc... )
I read a review on IGN but I can see they were EXTREMELY critical about certain things... Try it for yourself you'll love this game whether you like air combat/flight simulators or not.
It is very unhyped for what looks to be a brilliant game (the demo is FANTASTIC) so I can't see the full game when released being any different. Online for this game will be lots of fun.
I didn't hear much about this game before and after reading reviews they weren't as high as other games.... I didn't expect much and I only downloaded the demo cause I was bored. But now that I have I'll definitely be considering this game to buy soon and probably will buy sometime!
