Cross-platform Huxley to support 100 vs. 100 battles

IGN has a pre-E3 interview with Webzen about the PvP and PvE aspects of the latter's (soccer inspired?) MMOFPS, Huxley. Excerpt:
Huxley's Persistent World, a space where players can grow and live, can support up to 5,000 players per server. PvP battle fields are separated from Persistent World areas such as villages, and the scale ranges from the usual 4 vs. 4 battles to massive 100 vs. 100 battles.
The maximum number was not fixed at 200 for technical restrictions. After a variety of settings and testing to figure out which scale could maximize enjoyment while ensuring effective control of characters, we reached the conclusion that 100vs100 was the most ideal. This is, of course, bigger than the scale of current FPS games like Battlefield 2, which are 32 vs. 32 battles.
Asked if Xbox 360 and PC gamers will be able to play against eachother, as has been previously reported, Webzen said only that the interaction will go "beyond mere connection." Not sure what that means, but 100 Xbox 360 fanboys rallying to battle 100 PC diehards would make for a brave new world indeed.

"100 PC vs 100 Xbox 360" can be abstracted to: "100 keyb/mouse vs 100 gamepad".
For a FPS, a gamepad player is no match.

can someone please tell me if you need a subscription ALONG with the xbox live subscription(like final fantasy)?

#1 the game could be setup like COD2 were pressing the right button on a console does a small distance auto target. Something the PC wouldnt have, this might balance things out slightly

I wish that PC's wont be combined with 360's. Lag & hacking can ruin any game.
billy @ May 6th 2006 5:22PM
#1 im so glad someone wrote that.
i think it'll be really interesting actually, as windows supports the 360 gamepad, and 360 will sooner or later accomodate the mouse with its keyboard... so we could see an interesting battle as to who is really the king of the input devices.
i personally prfer games that make use of specific advantages held either options... but that it another story...

Sweet more info on this awesome game. I can't wait. Also it's been stated that you can pay only for this game's subscription and not for Xbox LIVE if you only want to play Huxley online.
Ben @ May 6th 2006 6:15PM
But if you already have live payed for, do you have to pay a subscription to play this game? Im guessing yes.
Mike @ May 6th 2006 7:36PM
oh wtf... I was looking forward to this game. But I pay for live cause I enjoy playing multiple games online. I will NEVER in my life ever pay to paly a single game by itself. My brother pays monthly for wow and its sickining. He pays 3x what I pay a year for his wow over my xbox live, and I get to play hundreds of games online, and he only gets to play one.

If there is a subscription fee then you don't need XBL to play it. But if that is true then I just hope that there will be voice chat, unlike FF.
Can you imagine the insanity of 100 vs 100, just imagine that many people in a singleplayer, none the less on multiplayer.
I'm already imaging the possibilities of Huxley becoming one of my favorite games, just bum rushing the enemy postitions while a few teams sneak around the back to take em out.
OMG!
Daniel D @ May 6th 2006 9:45PM
Wow you are all jackasses seriously stop worrying about OMGOMG WILL I HAVE TO PAY BECAUSE I AM SOO NOT PAYING ITS DISGUSTING OMFG IM GOING TO E-MAIL MAJOR NELSON ABOUT THIS OMG.
You most probably will not have to pay and even if you do, there is no conformation one way or another if you have reason to think one way or another then say so rather then spreading mis-information like that.
ya rly.

This game really looks interesting. I know 1up has some better info on how xbox360 vs PC will work. The designers seem smart enough to know that a shooting competition between PC and 360 players would only be fun for half of the people involved.
Fear @ May 7th 2006 7:51AM
I think there will be a subscription, I mean, its an MMO game, the good ones you usually have to pay for. (Huxley looks awesome) I think you can play with a silver subsciption, but if you already have a gold live account then it'll be an extra $5-10 a month? But with silver, thats only $5-10 dollars a month, its not that much, really, for this amazing 100 vs 100 game. Can't wait for it.
BF2 Player @ May 7th 2006 10:58AM
Battlefield2 supports a max 64 vs 64 players. Not 32 as posted in your story. 100 is still impressive but it's not 3x the current max.
Adam @ May 7th 2006 6:36PM
Hey, if you don't want to pay the fee, then don't play it. Simple as that
Deth @ May 7th 2006 9:21PM
I read somewhere (maybe game informer) that the developers were doing something to even the playing field between kb/m and controller.
Cheers!

360 will sooner or later accomodate the mouse with its keyboard...
I doubt it, m$ want live to be an even playing field, m$ never made the orininal xbox support a mouse for playing games the 360 will be the same.
