XBLM seeks its Prey (demo) [update 1]

Hey, remember that game, Prey, that 3D Realms has been working on for like 10 years? The one with the reluctant anti-hero/Native American guy? Well, 3D Realms insists that this game is actually coming out this year. What's more, they claim a demo is going hit marketplace on June
Seriously though, this game looks pretty fun and the demo is supposed to be 5(!) levels long. And, unlike some games, I have faith that it will release this year.

Update 1: It looks like my source had it wrong, and the demo is actually coming out on June 22nd, not June 21st. Joe Siegler of 3D Realms was kind enough to inform me of the mistake. Thanks, Joe!

Prey looks like a mix between Doom 3, Quake 4, FEAR, and Turok. It also looks like an amazing game.
A demo that's five levels long though, huh? That'd be huge! For that size I'd rather give up one of the single player levels and throw in a multiplayer level or two.

The demo may be out on the 21st but if it is five levels long imagine the download time. Hitman took four hours to download, i 'll have to leave my 360 on for two days to download the Prey demo.

Is there any multiplayer in the demo? Me and my Live friend want to get into another FPS game and we where talking a bit about this one.
Dont really care about single player FPS here so its all about the multiplayer on my purchase deciding factor.

IGN lists it as releasing on July 10, but IGN are also complete fucktards. Here's to hoping for a good demo and a quick release!

#3 - This game is supposed to have some great multiplayer. The new gravity rules and strange weapons are supposed to give a fresh experience for FPS fans. Of course, that's the talk. We'll have to wait to see if it can walk the walk.

We said the demo is coming out on the 22nd, not the 21st.
The size of the PC version of the demo is 449Mb. The 360 version is slightly larger than that, somewhere around 600Mb (not sure of final file size, but that's in the ballpark), but the same content - has to do with how the 360 can deal with data.

I thought MS didn't like putting demos up on XBLM so close to the weekends. It doesn't give them a chance to deal with any unforseen issues that spring up with them. I betcha it will get pushed back to the 26th/27th, IF it comes out.

It's definitely out this year, I've played a couple of preview builds and the game is pretty much done. Looking good as well.
J.Goodwin @ Jun 19th 2006 9:13PM
The demo is supposed to have multiplay, yes.

N.2
With games going from 1 level to 2 doesnt mean doubling the spaced needed, alot of the data needed for the second level is likely to be already be there in what was needed for the first.
