Halo 3 LE images, pre-orders being taken

Just when you thought you'd absorbed all the Halo 3 info that was leaked last week, scans of the latest Famitsu are starting to hit the web. There's plenty to look at, though most of it was in the scans of Level that were leaked last week. One little bit that was not in the scans -- as far as we know -- is a picture of the Legendary edition. Taken from the Famitsu scans, the above image could be both the collector's and Legendary editions side by side, or possibly just the Legendary edition by itself. We'll leave the speculating to you. In related news, GameStop has started taking pre-orders on Halo 3, with a release date of 11/07. Those familiar with Bungie lore know that 11 and 7 are important numbers in the Halo universe -- the Master Chief if Spartan 117, for example -- so the date is feasible. That, and it'll probably take that long to finish anyway. GameStop requires a reservation fee of $5 for the standard edition, $10 for the collector's edition, and $25 for the Legendary edition. We agree with Joystiq that it's insidious to play on gamers' fears with pre-orders -- the logic being that if you don't pre-order, you won't get it day one -- but at the same time, we want that helmet (at least I do). Still, with a rumored price of $100, the Legendary edition could be a serious pain in your wallet. Would you be willing to lay down ten Hamiltons for it?

PS: Gamestop is only taking pre-orders for Halo 3 for 1 week. Then no more. Of course this is in the district I live in, so it's possible that it's not that way everywhere else.

There was a very small picture in the scans from the swedish magazine, Level. There is a breakdown of the images in those scans on 360insight. This image is really good, i believe that the item on the left holds the games and/or game boxes, and then you slip the helmet over that for presentation purposes (read: showing off you your friends)

My guess on the above image is that it is entirely the Legendary edition. The game boxes fit in the piece on the left (as shown) and the helmet is placed over all of that resting on the base with the Halo 3 logo.
Again... just a guess.

It looks like that's the legendary edition - the helmet will fit over the twin DVD case holder. The collecter's edition will probably be another metal case.
If it sells for $100 over there, converting that to pounds is about £50, which is the same for a full price 360 game, so I'm guessing it's gonna cost a little more over here.
Actually, how much do 360 games go for over in the US?

Furthermore to what i said, i should've said first time really, it'll hold the 4 discs which come with the legendary edition.

It's $60 for a 360 game over there, we get ripped here in the UK, what with the equivalent of $85 dollars a game! I'm estimating that the legendary edition here (if the $100 rumour its proven correct) will be around the £70 mark...which translates to over a quite frankly appalling 140 dollars!

I'm guessing that the 3 slot holder is either for 3 discs that come with Halo 3, or more likey, its supposed to be like a collection, inwhich you can put Halo, Halo 2, and Halo 3. That helmet may have just convinced me to buy the Legendary edition.

i dont even own an xbox360 yet. the day halo3 comes out it the day i buy one. ill buy the the legendary edition only if the helmet is wearable. i really want the thing. and ever since they announced it, ive had this feeling in the back of my head that they would botch the whole thing, and make the helmet 2/3 scale, or something. at least now, looking at the base, it seems that the helmet will be full sized. the only thing i can think could screw this thing up is that the visor is just gold vacu-form plastic, and not actually transparent, or that the bottom of the helmet has a rectangular hole so that it snugly fits over the dvd base, thus making it unwearable.
why isn't masterreplicas making one of these spartan helmets?

I will be getting the legendary. Halo 3 is probably the most anticipated game. But I'll have GoW to take my mind off of it until this time in 2007.

I just went ahead and pre ordered both the Halo 3 legendary edition and gears of war today. Im actually more excited about halo than gears. Gears was mostly just an impulse buy. I hope it lives up to the hype. It takes a lot to hold my interests. That being said my favorite game so far on the 360 is geometry wars...

WTF! Are you kidding me? Why even bother showing us anything if the game is a year a way. I would expect that for a console but not a damn game. If they have enough complete to show us footage, why on earth will it take over a full year for it to be released? Seriously, does that even make any sense? I hope to God that they are wrong about the date. I wish Bungie would just come out with it already. I was really thinking March 07, it makes the most sense. They could finish whatever they have left to finish by then. They are testing multiplayer so wouldnt that mean the game is about done if theyre screwing around with multiplayer now?
