Vegas face mapping: Larry, meet Larry

Larry Hryb, AKA Major Nelson, recently posted the results of his Rainbow Six Vegas facial mapping on his Flickr site. How does it look? Pretty good actually. We mocked up his in game avatar next to his real life mug in the image above. Vegas fans out there may be wondering how Major Nelson came by those cool shades and hat in Vegas. Does he have access to special content because he works for Microsoft? Nope, he was actually wearing those things when he captured his face with the Vision camera. Knowing this, we can only imagine the lengths that some people might go to in order to really customize their character. You want pink and blue camouflage face paint (you know, for sneaking around a cotton candy machine)? Just paint yourself up and take a picture! In theory, you could add anything to your face before you take the picture: tattoos, fake scars, crazy contact lenses, the possibilities are endless.
Now that you've seen the results, will you try anything special to customize your character?

I got a buddy who put on a Flash Mask and mapped his face. Pretty hilarious!

Given that you can't change the head of your character without losing your stats, be sure to get it right the first time. Providing that you follow the instructions, the digimask feature is surprisingly idiot proof.
For coop play, it's adds an indescribable realism. Identifying your teammates by their faces is like totally next-gen.

I wonder how long until the first penis-faced guy is running around Xbox live.

My flatmate has a Spiderman wrestling mask...
I also have some large Family Guy/Aliens/Predator toys lying around - could be worth a shot!

@ lewis, whahahahahha I that would be (in some way, funny though...)
@ the rest, I don't like the game, I think it is too slow, and not that good graphics... (now I've only played the demo maybe that has something to do with it) so I won't be using this features very much...
but back on topic: I do think it is great that this game offers this... it makes every character unique...
Good job R6:V people :D

"1. I wonder how long until the first penis-faced guy is running around Xbox live."
Yah you know some dick-head is going to do that...

I'm having a damn tough time with shades, masks, etc. No problem with just my face, although it has some trouble reading my girlfriend's face. Weird. I'll post some pics on here once I get the crazy sh*t working :)
Wii360dsPSPpc @ Nov 27th 2006 5:32PM
It won't let you put just anything there either. Despite repeated attempts, it wouldn't recognize my 3 year old as a "face".
lolersticks @ Nov 27th 2006 6:22PM
J, it's a Ballchinnian!

Plus on top of it, it unlocks an achievement worth 30 gamerscore.

#5:
It specifically says changing your face will NOT remove your rank/achievements/points.

Penis faced guy? Kaz Hirai? Put glasses on it and it would look like our (Australian) Prime Minister.
I'm waiting for Christmas for this one. I need to leave something for my wife to buy me.

Yeah, my box crashed last night while I was trying to reshoot the side portrait. Then again, after seeing the horrific result of the shots that worked, I probably should have just left it for dead.

I've had some trouble getting certain things to work, like I've had two Halloween Masks that wouldn't work.
now my Gf says that maybe the camera only recognize's legit faces, and not Shot up looking zombie masks. or Elongated faces on Mummy Zombie looking MFer's
How ever I did get my Twoface Action figure, and my sinister Action figure to work. I got a couple of Zombie action figures I'm looking to try today. it seems the one thing u really need for this to work well is superb lighting.
and for the guy who says "you will loose your stats for changing the look of a charecter.. I say look at ur Player info menu on the Xbox live screen and notice the "Change apperance" Bar
and how it says "if u select this your stats will not be affected." and it's true as I have changed my apperance many times over, and I'm still a sergeant.
And as for freezeing. well I've had that happen as soon as i've started the game, when I'm in my best online matches and do really well. it will freeze up
not so much during the creation aspect. and when it's going thru menu's like a lobby room menu to the creation one.
although it only happens so often, other times ti runs fine.
My guess to it freezing so much, is the fact that on the wrapping of my Game box is said that the Disc was made in Mexico.
