Sign up for the Shadowrun beta

Microsoft and FASA Studio have officially announced the Shadowrun beta program. Shadowrun, you may recall, is the launch vehicle for Microsoft's Live Anywhere service, allowing gamers on both PC and Xbox 360 to compete with each other. An FPS that combines both technology and magic, Shadowrun looks to bring something different to the shooter genre -- and answer the age old keyboard and mouse/gamepad question once and for all. Find instructions on how to participate in the beta after the break.
- Visit http://connect.microsoft.com.
- Click on "Invitations" on the left-side menu.
- You will need to sign in using a valid Windows Live ID before you can continue to the "Invitations" page. (If you have already registered for the Connect site, skip to Step 5.)
- Please read and accept the Terms of Use Agreement then follow the instructions to register for the Connect site.
- Enter your Invitation ID in the blank field. Your invitation ID is: SHBS-6YMT-YKHC
- Click "Go."
- Complete and submit the short questionnaire. Please enter 205 for the beta code when asked at the beginning of the questionnaire.
- If you are not redirected immediately to the "Shadowrun" Beta Selection homepage after completing the questionnaire, click the My Participations link on the left hand navigation bar then click the " Shadowrun" program link. This will redirect you to the "Shadowrun" Beta Selection Homepage.
- Once you are on the "Shadowrun" Beta Selection Homepage, you will need to complete the rest of the registration process by signing up for the forums by clicking the Join the Forums button then click the Welcome to the Official "Shadowrun" Community Forum Sign In button.
- Wait patiently for Microsoft to contact you with further instructions. Check back at http://connect.microsoft.com for further beta announcements.
The whole process should take you about ten minutes to complete. Also, it's worth noting that this beta is currently open only to 360 players, though it may eventually open to PC users as well. Good luck to all those that sign up.

I got an 'unexpected error' after clicking register button on the name/address screen, plus i didn't see anyplace to enter beta code 205. I tried a few times, no luck. thanks microsoft. Maybe the 'sign up for a beta' pgae is still in beta... or alpha.

A few things to note:
1.) I had similar issues with the page. After putting in my personal information, I'd get an error.
2.) I was running Firefox 2.0.
3.) I opened IE 7 and went to the same page. It remembered the information I inputted within Firefox and brought me straight to the page to put in the final code.
So, I'd suggest using IE if you were using something else. Beyond that, no idea.

I got an error as well when I tried to register with Firefox. I switched to IE and everything worked. Apparently I've been accepted though judging by the wording on the site, I'm not sure if that means I'm in the program or not.
On the page asking me to join the Shadowrun Beta forums, it says, under what you need to qualify, "Either an Xbox 360 with a hard drive or a high end PC running Windows Vista. We will be publishing the minimum spec for the PC shortly." So I believe they already have plans for beta testing the PC side as well.

Woooohoooo.... I got on the list, I hope I get in on some of that beta goodness

I still feel that Shadowrun should not be a FPS, but I signed up anyway.

I got in too.
I participated in a lot of public betas from Sony on the PS2 but never heard of a Xbox beta.
Finally M$ decided to start doing betas on live games!
It was getting annoying having to wait 1 to 2 months for EVERY SINGLE Live game to receive it's MUCH needed patch to fix bugs that a public beta would kill in a week and make a bug free live game to be on our consoles on the game launch day.

I got an error in FireFox, but it worked in IE...
BklynKid @ Nov 28th 2006 1:37PM
Because nothing says 'meh' like Shadowrun.

To #9, BklynKid:
There's one thing that describes "meh" better than Shadowrun:

#15 The other game was MotoGP (motorcycle racer) or something like that.
roggie2499 @ Dec 1st 2006 2:58PM
I noticed the error only happens in Mozilla. I tried in Opera and it worked fine as well. I'm hoping I get selected. Beta tests are awesome.
