Halo 3 commercial expectations

We've been flooded with Halo 3 news recently and so we'll make it a personal mission to continue the bombardment. As you know, we have our calendars marked for December 4th already , because that night on Monday Night Football we're going to get to see the premier of the Halo 3 one minute commercial. There already seems to be a hype machine churning for what is essentially just a commercial ... but a commercial everyone is frothing from the mouth to see.
So, let's recap the facts. We know that Bungie didn't create the commercial in-house, that the commercial will use actual 3D models from the game, that it is 100% CG (no actual Halo 3 footage for you!), that it will only be shown once on TV, but will be available on Xbox.com and Xbox Live, and that nobody really knows exactly what to expect. With that knowledge, time for some speculation. I'm thinking the commercial is probably going to showcase the prettiness of the Halo universe and give us a glimpse into the storyline that Halo 3 is going to be based upon. Maybe we'll see some new weapons, new vehicles or some new covenant, but no new announcements. We at Xbox 360 Fanboy are going to be hard to displease, because we'll accept any Halo 3 footage, but what about you guys? Are you expecting some really juicy stuff, secrets revealed, or the start of a new ilovebees ARG? Or are you just happy to get to see some CG Halo 3 and all that jazz? Please discussify.

Do you know if it will be broadcast in HD or SD?

I swore Bungie said there wouldn't be any CGI in any trailers.

Look, I love Halo. Always have. But people are definitely making too big a stink over this commercial. It's just a commercial. If it was a new trailer, I might understand. But this is a outsourced CGI trailer-- it's not going to be very significant, it's not going to offer any sort of revelation-- it's probably just going to be 30 seconds of shit exploding and the Master Chief looking cool. I mean, I'm all for that, but it's definitely not worth all the build up its getting.

we'll get the release month. March or April is my guess, or the might say spring, summer.
Most ppl that would buy other systems this xmas know bout halo, this is to steal sales from sony etc, so it needs to be soon(pre E3).

Two kids lying on grass talkin' about life in outer space. Quick fade to first person view of one of the kids and he sees Master Chief's helmet besides him. Quick fade to a desert scenario. The Chief picks the helmet, then a gun, while explosions surround him. A message on the radio says that the battle is over. He answers "no, not yet". He picks some kind of grenade, throws it to the ground, that generates some kind of shield and moments later a missile explodes just in front of him. Then he starts running, jumps a cliff and we see he's jumping in the middle of a Covenant battalion. Fade to black and then the message "Finish the fight".
The trailer is just awesome, CG or not. Wait 'til monday and see...
PD: And there's people from Microsoft that insist that the footage where the Master Chief is present is fully ingame. Honestly, it's too good to be ingame...

Considering the timing of the disappointing movie announcements, you'd have to say that the mostly CGI commercial is designed to gauge interest in the Halo Universe. MS is trying to drum up more movie bids to get the movie back on schedule.

Sorry but i dont believe this game will release before christmas 2007. It always seems like the biggest titles get delayed till then mysteriously.

JRock: I think it was Frank O'Conner that said on the 1up podcast that this commercial was in development and planned way before the bad news of the studios dropping out of the movie deal. It might help with it however, but that's not why the commercial exsists.
Trevor: The release will not be Spring, mainly because of the fact that the Multiplayer demo comes out in Spring. And since the demo is supposed to be a Beta, then after the Beta is out, they would need some time to make tweaks and what not, so probably thoughout the summer that would happen. The game will probably be out in November. That being said, they may or may not annouce a release date in this commercial.
