Obsidian named as Aliens RPG dev

It was announced earlier this week that SEGA had acquired the rights to develop several games in the Aliens franchise. IGN reports that the Obsidian -- developers of Neverwinter Nights II -- has been chosen to develop an Aliens RPG(!). Okay, let's just put this out there. If you like it you can keep it, if you don't then just send it right back: we want an Aliens RPG. The creatures in the Aliens movies have always been frightening sure, but any depth behind them -- if there is any -- has been left completely unexplored. We're just going to hope out loud that Obsidian will expand the alien culture and not just give us some slobbering beasts to kill. Give us KOTOR set in the Aliens universe, and our chests will burst with orgasmic delight.
Of course, we all know what the Game Over screen will be like.

I am not sure, I'd almost rather see the aliens and humans joining forces, we pretty much know the aliens are going to win. Also given the heat that Obsidian has taken over Neverwinter Nights II may be some else should try.

The Aliens are entirely instinctual, though.
Obviously there's been more of a push to put humans together with Predators, so I could see that being more of a focus.
I think it's a neat idea, though. I'm also glad to see that Gearbox is doing the FPS.
Both are better than Sega taking the helm, in my opinion. At least given their most recent output.

I'd rather keep the theme to FPS, but make it more free in terms of development.

I'm not sure how that will go about, but with Obsidian at the helm I feel at least *somewhat* safe. Aliens is one of my favourite movies, ever, and pretty much started the whole space marine archetype. It'd be a shame for the game to suck.
I really wonder how the combat will work though... To me any Aliens game has to have an FPS at the center - it's all about claustrophobic spaces, peering behind you all the time, and having the reflexes and skill to blow the alien to smithereens before it tears you a new one.
Having KOTOR-style number-based combat would kinda take away from that.

I remember the Alien v Predator game on the PC when you could play as either an Alien, Predator or as a Marine with different weapon, vision and physical capabilities.
Was a good game in its day.
Would be good to see that updated for the 360, and some more depth to the Predator and Alien characters.
