The unstoppable force that is
Gears of War just keeps on being
unstoppable. Microsoft announced today that the game has now topped worldwide sales of 2 million units. Keep in mind, this is 2 million copies sold in only six weeks of availability. Damn. Microsoft, naturally, is very happy with the development, and is quick to point out some more impressive numbers.
Gears of War has seen over 1 million unique users on Live, playing a combined 10 million online games, and unlocking 7 million achievements. Okay, it's official: if the 360 has a killer app,
Gears of War is it.

Feh. The Curb Stomp is just a pale imitation of The Mighty Boot from Duke Nukem 3D.

Now if they would only address the communication issues that was quickly patched for R6:Vegas.
It's sad when a game that has been out for just a couple of weeks pushed a patch fixing issues faster than a game out for six weeks.
I'm not a fan of the multiplayer issues as far as ranked matches and lack of clans/friends support, but when I and many of the people playing multiplayer can't even communicate it just sucks.
Yeah, sometimes turning the controler on and off fixes it, yeah sometimes leaving the match and coming back in will fix it...but...it may only work for a couple of rounds and might become an issue again.
It's like Capcom fixing text issue in a demo game but wouldn't do it for Dead Rising.
I don't expect the world but it's hard to think they are honest when they talk about content and support. Oh you can tell us of all the things you plan but what happens when we have an issue and you've made your money? We get the 'we're working on it' song and dance. Or better...it's not us...it's Microsoft's fault.
If Microsoft is the problem, document it. We the consumer will be more than happy to redirect our aggression to the guilty party if they really are to blame. We just want to play their (Epic) game on their (Microsoft) system. If we have problems doing that you would think that THEY (combined) would do everything they can to quickly fix it. Can't get me a quick fix? Then at least tell me what the heck is going on.
Proper follow up with the customer. Never happens anymore and it's sad.

now patch the damn thing already...
excuse my french and my rant.
The practice in the electronics world of sending things off to market that aren't finished that will be "updated" at a later date is just getting worse and worse. Nowhere is this more evident than in video games and more specifically the XBox360 and its first party titles.
Give Bungie credit where its due - there are very few "bugs" in their games when they ship compared to other games.
Gears SP is about as good as it gets. The MP was very clearly (imho anyways) done with the idea of finishing it later with patches and updates.

Gears of Wars' core gameplay is repetitive and not extremely enjoyable. The game is fun, but only in spurts. It is ultimately an overrated title. If only they could have put as much into the gameplay as the graphics.
Rainbow 6 is a game that is more fun and more deep. I also enjoyed Quake IV more than GoW.
