Rumor of the day: Tekken 6 for 360 [update 1]

Coming from several different sources is yet another rumor that a major PS3 exclusive is going to jump ship. This time it's the perennial combo crunching fighter, Tekken 6. Furthermore, Namco is already working on the title, and it will be available just after the PS3 version. Though Virtua Fighter 5 is nothing to sneeze at, industry watchers will know that Tekken is Sony's big name fighting franchise. Since its inception, no Tekken game has graced a non-Sony console, with the minor exception of Tekken Advance on the GBA. The info comes from an anonymous tipster at IGN -- supposedly the same person who leaked the Virtua Fighter 5 info. Could it be true? Company loyalty tells us no, but financial logic tells us yes. Namco brought Soul Calibur II to multiple platforms, only to have Sony snag exclusivity for Soul Calibur III. We're betting that Namco made a lot more money with Soul Calibur II (we're sure Link helped with that). Honestly, if Sony can't get PS3s into people's homes, publisher have no choice but to go multiplatform. This rumor is still tenuous for now, but it wouldn't surprise us if it was true.

Update: Reader, tpudd, reminds us that there was in fact one non-Sony Tekken game, Tekken Advance for the GBA.

You also forget that Untill Ridge Racer 6, no NAMCO made ridge racer was released on a non-sony console. (RR64 and RRDS were made by NST... hence, they suck)
But IMHO, RR6 by itself adds some validity to this rumor. If sony could loose Ridge Racer, who says they can't loose Tekken. Espically since Tekken mysteriously missed it's launch release day.

As much as this makes me happy to own a 360 (the Tekken franchise was one of the few reasons I'd get a PS3), I do dread the idea of playing it on the 360 controller. I may still have to get a PS3 to play my beloved Tekken, even if this does occur. We'll see!

Woot Woot woot! Oh yeah baby! I used to love Tekken back when I had my PS1 and it would be real nice treat for the 360 owners to get this baby.
Hope this is true, I prefer Tekken over VF5 anytime!

well i said much like a lot of people the devs will leave sony and sony will sink and drop out of the console game leaving a void of power for some one like apple to fill as with out sony xbox has the hi teck ground coverd and the wii has the daft lo teck but fun stuff down
so are trying to sit in the middle and when the fail some one will come in to fill there place i do hope it is apple or some one like them or atri now that would b cool :D:D

The only important Namco game to me is Ace Combat. I really wish air force delta was that good.
