New GoW maps coming Wednesday [update 2]

It looks like Australian game site mygen has loose lips when it comes to top secret information. They've broken news (possibly prematurely, Microsoft is going to be disappointed!) that two new Gears of War maps will be available on the Marketplace this
The first new map is called Raven Down and takes place near a King Raven crash site in the middle of a city with cars, debris, and building matter strewn all over the place. Think Gridlock with lots of broken stuff and a King Raven in the middle. The second map is called Old Bones and is pretty much an abandoned human museum all decked out with arches and columns. It's very fancy indeed.
Also, the Discovery Channel is sponsoring the map pack so this content is, hold your breath, 100% FREE! They're also giving away 2 million Microsoft Points later in the week. Be sure to check out ReadyAimFire when the site goes live later in the week to learn more about the contest. Gosh, we just love you Discovery Channel and your educational animal shows. Again, we believe this was embargoed information which means it wasn't supposed to be released until earlier in the week. So feel privileged and wait patiently, we're getting new Gears maps in a few days! More pictures after the jump.
Update 2: Mark Rein confirmed that the auto-update will be released Tuesday, January 9th. He also confirmed that the map pack download will also include an introductory video from Cliffy B.
Update 1: Mark Rein has officially confirmed on Epic's forums that this news piece is real. He also added that an auto update will be released prior to the maps being offered, hopefully fixing some buggy issues. Finally, Mark stated that the new maps will be available on the 10th, not the 11th of January.

Woohoo!
I hope this wasn't "embargoed information..." I'd feel bad for mygen if they got in deep crap for releasing this.

Re: 5
I think that's the point. They want to keep that #1 spot on Live.

It's official! Check out the Epic Games forums for the list of fixes. Voice issues fixed as well as grenade tagging distance decreased! Among many others. However, friends that play Ranked matched are not going to be happy. Now it's even more difficult to play with friends with the removal of the host name under ranked match searches!

Well if you are like me and have played GoW into the ground since it launched there is nothing going to stop me from putting it down and picking up Lost Planet. You can release maps all day long. LP is wicked multiplayer and with 16 people it gives you a different online experience than Gears.

We need the glitch patch soon pretty please. And extra's for games SHOULD BE FREE!!
steve50310 @ Jan 8th 2007 2:02PM
This sucks about the patch. Epic removed the host name from the Ranked match server browser.

I hope there as good as the current ones.

1&2, the forum post from Mark Rein reads:
"_The Gears update_ will go out over Xbox Live before the downloadable content is available."
That's a clear reference to the patch.
I don't think it will fix everything, but at least it's finally here.

Oh, goody. More run on a track, shoot a bunch of guys, run on a track shoot a bunch of guys. . .
I swapped out my copy of GoW for Dead Rising, and I can say Dead Rising is- for me- WAY better than GoW. Sure, it's a lot of running and fighting, too, but it's not on a "track" like GoW. The problem I had with GoW was that there was no real choice in the game. You followed the path, you did what was required of you, and then you followed the path some more. In DR, I can go where I want and do what I wish with my time.
I hate being shepherded through a game, and it's even worse when the shaky cam makes me feel like throwing up before I even get to an interesting part.

Well, technically, the Austrailian website wasn't wrong about the date. Won't it be the 11th over there when it's the 10th here?
hockeyman28 @ Jan 10th 2007 2:17PM
There is also a video from Cliffy B included in the pack.
