Lost Planet ships 1 million
Xbox 360 Only is reporting that Capcom's chilly game Lost Planet has sold over 1 million units worldwide. Capcom was hoping to sell 740,000 units for them to consider Lost Planet a success, so they must be smiling ear to ear with these sales numbers. Even though the game has received lukewarm reviews, the marketing and hype surrounding the game must have helped in moving units. We're smelling sequel. Maybe in the next Lost Planet we'll finally get to control an army of killer snowmen that throw ice cube trays at mechs. Now that's entertaining! Patent pending Capcom, but if you like our idea feel free to get in touch with us. English translation of the post after the break.[Thanks, Jonah]
Friday 12 January 2007- even though Lost Planet is out in stores across Europe from today onwards, its doing extremely well. Fisco has stated that the game, made by Capcom, has sold over 1.040.000 copies in the US and Europe together, and has therefore reached the one million limit in no-time.
Before the launch of the game, Capcom made a prognosis, hoping to sell the game at least 740.000 times. They have therefore reached and passed this amount by far on the european launch day. We ourselves were also very enthousiastic about Lost Planet, you can check our review here.

thats sweet!
although the story is strange and the controls take awhile to get used to, i reckon this game is top notch. the bosses are awesome, and the gameplay is fun. good job capcom!

I picked up the collectors edition yesterday. Sweet metal box. I finished watching a movie on my HDDVD player and that is when my Launch 360 decided to go belly up on me. Rings of death of coarse. I did not even get to play Lost Planet. Although I have been playing the online demo since it came out so I was all practiced up on my mad skillz. I've actually been waiting for my 360 to crap out so I could send it in for a new one. Of course it had to be the worst timing ever! Oh well...I will just stare at my pretty Metal Lost Planet box for the next two weeks and weep. Sniff...sniff :(

People stop bashing that game! It's completely ok to play, everything is ok with controls and only problem is with "recovery" animations that sometimes took too long from point when you hit to point when you start fighting again. And nothing more. Graphic and design are amazing, perfect animations and grand boss fights. Stop reading stupid reviews and play this awesome game, and you will see. ok?

Chops Ridiculous :)

Don't you mean sells not ships (in title).
Well I might rent this game, but it doesn't look like a must buy for me. I didn't expect it to sell 1 million this quickly though.
VolPett @ Jan 13th 2007 11:16AM
Graphics are great, story is terrible, and the gameplay is way too slow. Multiplayer is pretty good but does not measure up to Gears or Ranibow 6.
I'm glad alot of you are enjoying this game, but its not for me. I'd give it a 7.5.
moksha @ Jan 13th 2007 12:22PM
Wow, they must be sad that they sold only 1.04 copies of the game…
I'm not "enthousiastic"
But all kidding aside, Lost Planet is pretty fun.

The game is amazing. I give it a 9.5 average. Graphics seems to have improved over the demo and the gameplay is very solid. I don't mind the knock over animations it makes things more interesting and challenging. There are no games out there with explosive effects like this.
I don't get why people say the gameplay is slow. Obviously if you are running in snow it would make sense to move slower.

I rented this game last night and have gotten through the first seven missions. A couple of the boss battles are more annoying than fun but overall the game is very fun.
The cutscenes make little to no sense though and the dialog is very stilted. What's funny though is that the breasts on the female characters are large but are low on the chest. It is distractingly funny in some cases.
I haven't tried online play yet.

I find myself really enjoying the multiplayer. The game fills a void between Gears, Vegas, and Halo 2. The graphic style is different than gears, but no less stunning. The second-generation of 360 games is here in full-force.

I got my copy yesterday, just like I planned to since I played the E3 demo last summer. I did read a bunch of reviews yesterday before I went to the store, and for one split second I thought that maybe I should not buy it. Is the game perfect? Hell no, not even close. Is it fun? Hell yes. The story is horrible and there questionable design decisions, but I would say that Lost Planet is better than most of the crap that gets put out these days. First of all, it's not a sequel and it's not a WWII shooter. Capcom took a chance with a new IP and I think it's about time. Dead Rising is another recent Capcom game that took alot of chances, and got a bunch of grief for some of the game design decisions, (save anyone?), but who can deny that playing Dead Rising was fun at times. I think Lost Planet is a decent addition to the 360. Not the "best" game out there, but ahead of the pack of mediocrity that comprises the majority.
sumdum gai @ Jan 13th 2007 2:44PM
Easy to ship a million when there isn't much to choose from.
sumdum gai @ Jan 13th 2007 2:45PM
Doh, I meant "SELL" a million. Damn typo has me making them too.
Don Wilson @ Jan 13th 2007 6:24PM
Lost Planet is already out?
Jonah Falcon @ Jan 13th 2007 6:30PM
"Lost Planet is already out?"
It was in stores on 1/12.
Alex @ Jan 13th 2007 8:57PM
Wait so your telling me this game wich no of my freinds bought. this game that got mediocre reviews. this game that is not over highed like GOW or Halo2 has sold in under 1 day what took gears of war two full weeks???? Wow, this makes no sense.
sumdum gai is lame @ Jan 14th 2007 3:35PM
sumdum gai, there isn't much to choose from?
what are you talking about? there is plenty to choose from...
jas @ Jan 14th 2007 2:40AM
so that means, that it broke the million mark in a day??
xconvict @ Jan 14th 2007 9:35AM
lost planet looks great. but when there's lots o action it freezes. crashes. and burns. plus, why the hell can't you play campaign online with 2 or more??? that SUXXX
s2h @ Jan 14th 2007 3:04PM
@15,17 it shipped 1 million.. not sold 1 million to any of you guys wondering
Thryon @ Jan 14th 2007 11:41PM
Well it sold 1 copy for sure...I could not wait to play Lost Planet. The game is an absolute blast. I finised the 3 mission, and how tough she was to defeat. For you all that finished 7 missions on the first day, are you playing on "easy? I am playing on normal, and completed on 3 missions. That game is not easy.
On and the snow worm is worth the price of admission. You must see it to believe it...and it is not even a boss...WOW...just WOW....
VampireHunter Z @ Jan 14th 2007 11:42PM
It didn't sell a million in a day. It's more like a week since it was out in Japan and Europe first.
The game is great. If they were to make a modern day Contra this is how they should do it (with co-op of course).
IPTV Syndicate @ Jan 16th 2007 5:52AM
The game looks great, but controls are a little hard.
