Guitar Hero II for preorder, $89.99
Mark, an employee at his local EB Games, sent us a tip that the Xbox 360 version of Guitar Hero II is now available to preorder at their stores. He also mentioned that the full price of the game, including guitar, will be $89.99. Currently, there is no page up on either Gamestop.com or EBgames.com to preorder the bundle, so we can't actually confirm the price. If anyone is heading to Gamestop or EB Games in the near future please ask about Guitar Hero II and how much you can preorder it for. We're an army, a fanboy army, who hungers for knowledge![Thanks, Mark Z.]

MagmaFlow @ Jan 14th 2007 1:04AM
I don't know...The PS2 version was $80. Even though it has a few extra songs, I'm not so sure that his is a good deal. The extra 10 bones seems like it's being milked.
Neoxkc @ Jan 14th 2007 1:12AM
@MagnaFlow
Have you forgotten about the 10 extra songs there buddy?
xXWernstarXx @ Jan 14th 2007 1:21AM
360 games are almost always $10 more than the stuff that's on the PS2 and the rest of the other consoles. So if the Guitar Hero 2 bundle (game and guitar) is $80 for the PS2, I guess it's normal that it will be $90 for the 360.
This is just like Madden costs $50 on those consoles and on the 360 and PS3 it costs $60. At least with GH2 we will actually be getting more content (yay!), as opposed to how the next gen versions of Madden have less content(boo!)
kaiyraa @ Jan 14th 2007 1:21AM
And the 10 dollar difference on new 360 games and new PS2 games?
Mikeawesome @ Jan 14th 2007 1:51AM
I talked to the guys at my local GameCrazy and, apparently, they're saying the price is $79.99 or $69.99, I don't remember which exactly.
Local Game Advisor @ Jan 14th 2007 2:47AM
okay, I work at a gamestop. I do know we are taking reserves, but I haven't taken a look at the price. I'm working tomorrow morning, so I'll take a look and get a price quote. I'll even try to take pictures!
nonrandomhero @ Jan 14th 2007 2:57AM
the price is $89.99 in the USA
ZeroCorpse @ Jan 14th 2007 4:20AM
Hm. Ouch.
It's an awesome game, but that's quite a bite.
I'll have to think about it, now.
Juansito @ Jan 14th 2007 5:16AM
When it is supposed to be coming out?
casinoman @ Jan 14th 2007 5:57AM
I was thinking that it was going to be $100. I'm glad to see that the unconfirmed price is only $90.
Ciaran @ Jan 14th 2007 12:27PM
well the Internet price is bound to be slightly cheaper...
I'd say it'll cost £45-£50 from the internet in the UK, if it's going to be $90 in America.
Hoffer @ Jan 14th 2007 8:09AM
I stopped by Thursday after work to reserve this game and it wasn't in the system. Guess I'll have to stop by again later today.
DJ Jimi @ Jan 14th 2007 9:18AM
can anyone confirm if you can pre-order a second seperate guitar?
thomas @ Jan 16th 2007 12:04AM
That's just plain expensive.. will you be able to download songs from xbox live?
Drew Green @ Jan 14th 2007 12:15PM
Would a PS2 to 360 controller converter work for the GH controller? I have 1 guitar for PS2 and would much rather use that than buy another separate controller.
john @ Jan 14th 2007 3:26PM
I have pre-order at my local Gamecrazy, I think they were saying $79.99. At least it was in the system.
Adam @ Jan 14th 2007 4:10PM
I checked with gamestop on the release date. They said March 1.
Jonah Falcon @ Jan 14th 2007 1:38PM

No. Red Octane was quite explicit about that: no adapters.

My local EB games (now a subsidiary of GameStop), can take as much money as you want to put down on a game, at ANY time and count it towards the final purchase price. So if I want to do $10 a week until it comes out, I can. And that CERTAINLY makes things a whole lot easier.
It's also what I'm doing for the Legendary edition of Halo 3. I've already almost got that one nipped in the bud and paid for.
Deth @ Jan 14th 2007 5:57PM
Jared- What you should be doing is putting the minimum amount down to guarantee the copy, but then put the rest in savings (or money market/ CD/invest). At least YOU will be earning the interest and not a mega rich corporation.
Cheers!

I just went to gamestop and asked and they told me it was the same price as the ps2 one to preorder, 79 bucks
Local Game Advisor @ Jan 14th 2007 8:17PM
yup, it's 89.99 in the system
Tony @ Jan 14th 2007 8:18PM
This doesn't necessarily mean that's the official price as much as it's the price they're listing it as. I've been given refunds on pre-orders before.
Benny @ Jan 14th 2007 8:38PM
It is going to be 89.99, but the March 1 release date is just a place holder saying that it is coming out sometime during that month, and I know this because I work at GameStop also.
OddGod @ Jan 14th 2007 8:53PM
I work at Gamestop and yes, it is going for $89.99. It's a minimum $5 down to pre-order it. The release date in our systems is 3/1/07 and I can't wait! :)
HeistTheWorld @ Jan 16th 2007 2:15AM
$80 would be amazing. More songs, downloadable songs, supposedly GH1 at launch, and if rumors are true the new GH 80s Edition would hopefully be there too.
Add in Achievements (which will be hard for this game, challenging, and something actually worth showing off. 5 Star Freebird Expert.), online leaderboards, and the potential for future co-op and it's way worth it.
I might sell my copy of GH2 with controller on eBay, heck depending on immediate release of GH1 songs and price, I've considered selling GH1/2 plus both controllers, for like $120 start bid on eBay. I take a loss, but not much.
Neccy @ Jan 15th 2007 11:12AM
Guess again #15 , play.com has the uk version at a stonking £64.99 ($125 equivilent). Why am I not surprised.
All we can hope is that either that is a guide price in place and the actual price will come down.
To be honest i belive your more likely to find it cheaper in store when it comes out , either game or hmv normally give good prices (gears was £30 in my local hmv when released)
Shadowbane @ Feb 3rd 2007 9:34AM
I was reading up on the Jan 2007 issue of EGM and apparently the bundle will cost around $90 US and be available in game stores in the US on March 2. As of now i am not sure if preorders are accepted and im trying to find out how.
