Non-PC Crysis bound for 360

In the latest episode of the 1UP Yours, Crytek has confirmed that a 360 version of Crysis is in development. It should be noted, however, that the game will not be a port of the PC version, but rather an entirely new game built from the ground up. The reasoning for this decision, according to the devs, is that the PC game simply couldn't run on an Xbox 360. Given that the title uses many of the advanced features of DirectX 10 (the 360 uses DirectX 9), this isn't too surprising -- although the explanation contradicts earlier statements from the developers. The game will reportedly share many elements with its PC counterpart, but contain entirely different graphics and gameplay.
Just curious, does anyone out there have a beefy enough PC to play Crysis anyway?

I'm more interested in the AI in Crysis than the graphics. It's supposed to have revolutionary AI in terms of how the enemies act and react. That was what made Half-Life and Halo so special, to me.

I wish they would do a side by side comparison between DX9 and DX10 and show the advantages. The lighting and colors in Crysis is just sick.

Hey Richard. (It's stupid but) I think you meant "1UP YOURS", not "The 1up Show". I watch and listen to those shows every week, and the new 1UP show (the video podcast) hasn't been posted yet.
You got my hopes all up, thanks a lot.
Just kidding....
(p.s. when are you gonna finally pick up R6:Vegas so we can play some co op?)

The graphics in Crysis almost make Xbox 360 games/graphics look rubbish!
I hope that Crysis on 360 is still just as good as the PC version though!

Oops. Fixed. As for Vegas, I'm not sure. I may rent it soon.

I thought the 360 was DX9 with many DX10 features added on top of it...some of the features the 360 has didn't even make it into DX10.

Pretty much all of the DX10 cards coming out now have 700mb of graphics memory, seeing as the 360 has 512mb in total this may be one of the issues
BUT as the resolution on console is lower this dofference can be negated

All I know is that the graphics is damn near Killzone 2 CGI. I'm not a PC gamer so I'll never own this game on a PC. But I would still like to see it running at it's full power on a PC.

That's stupid. The screenshots of crysis up until very recently (until the launch of geforce8800, actually) were all running on DX9 hardware, and the game looked stellar anyways. I think those guys are just fueling the hype machine, and the media are falling for it...

My system will run it fine, but i'll have a better system as the year comes to a close.
