Doh! Crackdown demo delayed

We just got word from Microsoft that the Crackdown demo, scheduled to hit the Marketplace on Thursday, has been delayed. The certification process is taking longer than expected, but Microsoft says the demo will only be delayed a few days and will be available in January. Microsoft also touched on some differences between the demo and the retail version of Crackdown. The demo will feature a dumbed down version of the "jump in Live co-op" gameplay, where you'll have to setup a game with a friend prior to starting the demo. But don't worry, the full version will implement jump in Live co-op just like Gears of War has. They also mentioned that the Agent leveling system has been enhanced for the demo to allow players a chance to try out the advanced abilities.
Sorry guys, we'll just have to wait a little longer to try out Crackdown. Curse you certification process!

oh come on this is bullshit. certification please don't they have a bunch of certi slaves in the basement working on this and monkeys too. I hate it when they do this.why is it always a much anticipated demo thats being delayed.

This game better be worth the wait.

I don't mind the wait. I'm glad that there is a cert process.
When the Viewtiful Joe 2 demo disc was released for the PS2 it would erase the memory card.
Yeah, so I'm fine with the wait.

That's a shame. Was hoping to have it for the weekend.
Good news on the "enhanced" leveling system. Really need to see how the superpowers work to decide if this is a game that needs buying.

I knew this would happen when Major Nelson wouldn't say January 18th in his interview with David Jones on the latest podcast. Hopefully it ends up on Marketplace before Monday.
/sigh

Man, funny, these same people complaining about the certification process being too slow would also complain if the demo came out on Thursday and was buggy.

There's a live dev network that has demos and arcade games that have yet to be released. I've been able to get my hands on the Crackdown demo for about a week now and haven't seen any problems with the build. But then again, I've only played single player and co-op over system link, not on live.
If the demo submission does not pass, it's most likely a network issue. Other than that, my guess is they're delaying the live debut for the same reasons the press get late movie screenings for film reviews--it's simply can't live up to the expectations. You can bet on it if it's delayed for several weeks.

god damn it. don't they realize that some of us are basing our lives around this demo?
Anirak @ Jan 18th 2007 11:16PM
Seriously, I was so looking forward to this demo. I hope it comes out VERY soon; I also hope they don't tell me the release date for the demo so I won't be looking forward to a date.

Weird thing. The DOWNLOAD Button for the demo of Crackdown appeared tonight - I guess some guy at XBL did not know it was canceled and forgot to turn it off..
You cannot download it though, the download blade pops in, but it only says more information but no chance of downloading....

As I posted elsewhere, I was a little pissed about the Crackdown demo screwup on Live yesterday. Imagine my surprise when I see the demo offered. Then imagine my frustration when it turns out to be a bunch of bs.
