PGR3 image used to promote Gran Turismo HD

Major Nelson just caught Sony in a major faux pas. On the PSP Connect site -- a site that offers downloadable goodies for PSP owners -- there is an ad for a new Gran Turismo HD trailer. There's only one problem though, the image used for the ad is from Project Gotham Racing 3. Seriously, check out the original image on Bizarre's website. Looks like someone didn't get the memo that GTHD and PGR3 are, in fact, different games. And just in case someone wises up and changes the picture, Major Nelson caught it on his Flickr account. We won't even go in to the hilarity of mistaking a year old 360 launch title for a brand new "4D" Playstation 3 game. Oh no, we couldn't do that. It would be too low. Check out the incriminating evidence after the break.

Good god... how could ANYONE make that mistake? This isn't some computer error... some "artist" actually pulled out a PGR3 image and put GTHD on it.
Wow.

I still can't believe that site is an official Sony site. As a web developer myself every piece of content that goes on our sites passes through artists, editorial, legal and then to me the programmer. I say there is a deviant Sony employee behind this. I think someone is sticking it to the man. LOL it's really funny though.
DC @ Jan 25th 2007 5:14PM

Sony shouldn't *really* be the one to blame for this, as a huge corporation... but they sure look stupid. Managers, Project Managers, Advertising Contact, the Graphic Designer, etc.. all down the line. One BIG mistake wasn't caught by anyone... likely because few of the people in that chain knew/cared about the difference between one videogame car shot and another... except maybe the soon to be fired/reprimanded designer and his firm.
Pretty hilarious that it wasn't caught by someone at Sony or Sony Online that cares enough to know.. even sweeter it was Major Nelson to bring it to light.. ha!

Hahaha! Nice move s*ckaz!

lol what a bunch of silly fools
Tim @ Jan 25th 2007 6:47PM
Ha... Sony fanboys will claim Microsoft paid off the artist in question to use the PGR3 shot.
Jas @ Jan 25th 2007 8:26PM
Sony, will you and your PS3 die already!?!
How many bottles of tranquilizers did you take this time?
AL7AIR @ Jan 25th 2007 8:35PM
Open up Google, and make an image search for "GT4 HD" ... nuff said. So a guy in the art department didn't know the difference. And it's not like Microsoft never used unlicensed stuff ;) *cough* DeepzOne *cough*
kornchild2002 @ Jan 25th 2007 10:08PM
I guess Sony received too many e-mails from people noticing the image. That is too bad, I wanted to see the mistake. I can see Sony making the mistake of using an old picture of GT 3 or something like that, but I didn't see them using somebody else's game made for an entirely different console. Way to go.
