Texas Hold 'Em tournament on Xbox Live

We just got word that new fansite Xbox Live Connection is holding a Texas Hold 'Em tournament via Xbox Live. Anyone who has the XBLA game Texas Hold 'Em and is at least 18 years old can join in on the fun. Qualifying rounds started last night, but will run until February 18th. All the nightly winners will be invited back to square off on the championship table on February 19th with first place receiving a $40 Best Buy gift card and second place a $10 Best Buy gift card. That's it? A $40 Gift Card? Geez, you'd think they'd offer up at least a $100. $40 doesn't seem like it would be worth the time invested.

Well, after playing in countless tournaments and winning millions or dollars in virtual money, I'd be grateful for $40. Better than the $0 you get any other time.

$40, thats handy for those of us in the UK, I'll just jump on a flight and start saving money on NTSC games that wont work over here. At least they could have made it a bit more generic, say microsoft point codes.... just my 2 "PENCE"

We appreciate all points of view but please understand we're a small site, and we're not sponsored. We figured it would be nice to give something for your efforts, rather than nothing. Later this year, we'll be giving away a copy of Halo 3 Legendary Edition. Again, un-sponsored, with no adds. Our hope is to be able to do more as we grow. And thanks Dustin for posting this. Oh whoa they dropped the star system. I'd been hanging on to my 1 star for so long, even though I had no idea where I got it.

This sounds like a pretty fun idea, $40 gift-card for just playing a game? Nice.. Also I wouldn't worry about the people bitching, y'all could have offered up $500 or something and people would still find a reason to bitch about it.

Good idea, however I'd rather it be a 20 dollar buyin, with 1st, 2nd, 3rd taking the pot.
Probably illegal, but whats a little betting amongst friends? =)
