Rare XBLA title revealed
Ever play Perfect Dark Zero? If so, then you probably saw the above video of the oldschool arcade shooter, Jetpac. If you played Donkey Kong 64 back in 1999, you could even play Jetpac in Cranky Kong's Lab after unlocking it. That being said, when we got word of "Jetpac Refuelled" being the title of Rare's upcoming Xbox Live Arcade title, we weren't too terribly surprised. Gameplay seems pretty standard for a 1983 coin-op classic, but looks like fun none the less. One thing we're curious about is the "Test date: 06.02.2007", is that June 2nd or yesterday?
[Thanks, RX-TX]

It's yesterday!

Rare are UK based so it's yesterday. We get the same thing over here - we have a US operating system at work and whenever we e-mail people they think we've gone mad because the dates are the wrong way round.
FIRST!!!!?
jaybro7 @ Feb 7th 2007 1:56PM
Why would it be yesterday? Since when did you put the day first then the month???
Knuckles Dawson @ Feb 7th 2007 1:56PM
Maybe because the source is German and in Europe they put day/month/year?
Knuckles Dawson @ Feb 7th 2007 1:59PM
Weird. My response to jaybro came in Before his comment. Eh.

For God's sake everyone buy this so they will make Killer Instinct port to Live Arcade!!!! LOL
svobs @ Feb 7th 2007 2:14PM
it means yesterday, the 6th of february. here in europe we normally set dd/mm/jjjj

I was hoping it'd actually be a little game like Small Arms or something... not these standard old arcade games that keep getting released on Live.

Here is the databse of the german usk. So this is no rumor!

Are you guys sure this is real and not fake? The video you posted is nothing more then the perfect dark zero intro. Go stick in a copy of perfect dark zero and see for yourself.
Also, ince jetpack was already ported to dk64 for free as part of the game, it would seem dumb to release it on xbla again. Coupled with the fact that most people do not even like jetpac. It would be much better in rares interest to make a diddy kongracing type of game for arcade. It would sell 100 times better.
Also, if you want a GOOD game with the name of jetpack, check this out http://www.dosgamesonline.com/index/game/Jetpack/248/ . Now if that game came to xbla with an added co-op mode + the level editor still intact, I would buy that game in a heartbeat (for 800+ points too)

Mike, do you even read the posts? I kinda established the game's appearance in PDZ and DK64. Without your negative spin.

I think The US is the only country that puts the month first. Kind of like We are the only ones to use SAE measurements [inches, feet].

Jetpac as a new XBLA game is rather disappointing. Rare is one of my favorite developers, but this just does not seem smart. 11 people for this? This also doesn't seem "original" as stated before. If they're going to remake a game, especially an arcade one, Battletoads would be so much better(if not arcade, Jet Force Gemini FTW!)
Stranger @ Feb 8th 2007 12:22PM
Wow! Now I really don't care that Rare's doing and XBLA game.
I'd think my pov to be the popular one since almost every other comment post has nothing to do with Rare or videogames, but the fascinating intricacies of shorthand date-writing, and it's amazing TWO variations throughout the western world.

No surprise, that's how real dates are writen... they just made the mistake os using dots instead os slashes as separatores... =]
Anyway, the role insdustry should use the ISO standard to post date in a non-confusion way... the ISO is like:
YYYY-MM-DD

"1983 coin-op classic"
well, not really.
"Jet Pac" is a 1983 original Sinclair ZX Spectrum game, not a coin op conversion.
