Def jam demo hits the streets

The announced Def Jam: Icon demo is now available on Xbox Live Marketplace for Gold members. The Xbox 360 has been woefully short of fighting games so far, other than Dead or Alive 4 and a few Xbox Live Arcade offerings. Will Def Jam: Icon bring us new hope, or will we be stuck waiting for Virtua Fighter 5? You'll just have to download it and see. Expect some impressions of the demo later today.

specially about this looking like Fight Night, it really feels different then the DJ FFNY.
I'm a big fan of the Def Jam series, but this demo does not convince me much... I hope they still improve on this game.

Wtf did they do with Def Jam! I loved the first two, but this is just utter crap. Can't wait to see the reviews on this one. 'Cause I can't imagine the full game being much better.

Even though I didn't like the previous Def Jam games in the series, I decided to give this a try.

Did you people play the same demo I did?!
The presentation is great. I'm not a fan of hip hop but this demo is VERY stylistic, great presentation, and far from "clunky". I'm not sure what the references are for the above commenters statements but I suggest EVERYONE at least give the demo a try, it's FREE.
I too would like to see the reviews for this game because at least then there are baselines provided for the statements made.
I haven't figured out how to do the take down moves yet but I definitely like the ability to "scratch" in the middle of a fight and the results it brings.
I also suggest trying the right stick hits instead of just the standard X, Y, A, B moves.
My opinion based off the DEMO alone, at LEAST an 8 outta 10.

I was extremely disappointed… They’ve totally ruined the franchise by making a game with a weak 22 character line-up (compared to the predecessors 40) of almost no long-time artists, repetitive fighting and unresponsive controls.
The fight becomes a mayhem of the same few moves (and the right stick moves with really unpredictable effects) and getting up from random explosions or being kicked across the whole environment.
The demo is also very annoying. The timer goes down way too fast, and when it does, you have to sit through the lengthy loading screens again.
At least the graphics and environments are cool, even though the environments are too small, explodes for no reason and lacks interactive audience.

It's funny, once this game gets released. You'll all be buying, renting or borrowing it from someone anyway. It's definitely a different game compared to the last few, but at least it's something new to play vs. nothing at all.
