Wing Commander coming to 360?

Siliconera spotted an interesting entry on the ESRB website. It seems that a Wing Commander title from Electronic Arts was recently rated for the Xbox 360 (it got an E). The game's full title is Wing Commander Arena. Wing Commander, for those who don't know, is a classic PC series (it also became an awful movie). This opens up more than a few questions. First, will the game be a retail release or an Xbox Live Arcade port of an older title? The fact that it's already rated means it must be complete, and we find it hard to believe that a new retail title would have remained under wraps this long. Besides, the ESRB has provided us with plenty of good XBLA leads lately.

Of course, the most important question of all: will Wing Commander Arena feature Mark Hamill?

Makes sense.

EA bought out Origin Systems, and they've talked up putting some of their classics on XBLA. I loved Wing Commander, and even more so, loved Privateer.

I would totally buy that.

OMG I need this!

I just finished WC1 yesterday (for maybe the millionth time), and have moved on to WC2 yet again. I love playing through WC1-5 at least once a year.

WC Prophecy was the first game I used my Voodoo2 card on - so gorgeous!

Ohmygodohmygodohmygod, GEEKGASM! When I was a little kid, my parents wouldn't let me play the Wing Commander games because one of the actresses in the game was a porn star. Now I am a man, and I can finally see what my friends were talking about at school. Yeeees, yeees, mmm, yeeeesssss.

Wing Commander was such a cool title back on the PC, and one of the things I always thought about, was that there's never been a really great space action game on the 360. Star Trek was just okay.

Dont get me wrong, I know what this game was, and I appreciate how it introduced the idea that maybe two buttons isn't always enough.

but EA? Plus William Spector is the steven spielburg of videogames.
