New details on Sensible Soccer for XBLA
North Americans don't get soccer. Europeans don't get American football (and are understandably confused as to why it's called football). Still, both sports have their classic iterations. America has Tecmo Bowl, and Europe has Sensible Soccer. It was revealed some time ago that Sensible Soccer would be making its way to Xbox Live Arcade, and IGN has unearthed a few details about the game. Like many classic Arcade releases, Sensible Soccer will feature enhanced graphics and sound. Codemasters, developer of the series, notes that they intend to maintain the classic feel of the game, and all work will be based on the source code developed for Sensible World of Soccer 96/97. Finally, the game is scheduled to release this summer for both Live Arcade and Windows. Are any of our European readers excited about this?

GET IN.
Here's hoping they keep the original music, or at least have an option to put the original music on. I'm scared by the concept of "enhanced music".

the real question is...will it be available in canada?

This is one of my favorite football games. Can't wait!
ANDY @ Feb 27th 2007 4:46PM
this NEEDS to be played with an 8-way digital joystick with one button, as it was originally on the Amiga platform.
It'll never, ever be the same with a d-pad.

I'm from the USA and I'm excited for this game. I loved Sensible Soccer as a kid.
FArper @ Feb 27th 2007 5:07PM
ANDY, You are ever so right.. I have fond memories of playing Sensible with a red joystick with just a single white button at the top... I cant wait either !

Fantastic news, I hadn't heard anything for a while and was getting nervous.
I couldn't agree more about using the original joysticks ANDY, mine's a Competition Pro: http://gtpunch.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!42F636BDC7C6C2DB
I don't see why it shouldn't come to Canada DjDATZ, we get all of the other Live Arcade content. It's only movie and TV rights that stall us from having the Pay Per View stuff.
What's next for XBLA, Kick Off 2?
Deano @ Feb 27th 2007 5:19PM
I was sooooo good at this game. I will own you all!
....does it have Live multiplayer?
mike @ Feb 27th 2007 5:58PM
Many times spent playing the on my commodore amiga, those were the days :-)
Tony @ Feb 27th 2007 6:04PM
I've never played it, but I always see lots of people get excited about it. What exactly does it do so well?
Honest question. I'll at least try out the demo.

@10, I remember the Competition Pro joysticks. They were my favorites as well. I was partial to the transparent models.
I think I still have one somewhere packed away with my Commodore 128. I went through them like candy though. The trigger mechanisms inside the joystick always broke down after a month or two.

scoring 40 yard diving headers against some chump on xbox live, count me in.
Though if you're playing with an 8 way joystick I get a 1 goal start, its only fair.

My god, I HOPE someone (or MS) releases an arcade controller!!! This was top three of Amiga games EVER so I'm very glad it will be available for 360.....:)
