Guitar Hero II demo stations next week?
One of X3F's regular anonymous tipsters has given us ... um ... an anonymous tip. What tip you ask? It looks like we might start seeing Guitar Hero II demo stations as early as next week in retailers like Wal-Mart. Our tipster reports that demo units are already being delivered to retailers. What is more, the X-plorer guitar that comes with GHII will feature a normal USB connection -- not exactly a surprise really -- which may allow PC users to find ways to utilize the controller. So, there you have it, start looking for Guitar Hero II demo kiosks starting next week. Be sure and send the news to X3F when you find one. We're just as excited to get our hands on the game after all.
[Thanks, Anonymous Rep]

How appropriate considering that I was playing GH II on the PS2 at Virgin Megastore in Times Square this morning and cursing the 2-3 weeks left to wait for the 360 version.
Gotta get my chops back.

Yeah, at the Circuit City that I work at (Parkersburg, WV) got our GHII demo in about 4 days ago, and set it up immediately in our big screen HDTV section :)
The guitar takes a little bit of adjusting to, as it feels fairly different from the PS2 version. And yes, the guitar definitely has a headset jack and the plug-in that is rumored to possibly be for a foot pedal or something.
The demo includes about 7 or 8 songs.
So very very nice to see in the store, hitting home the fact that in a couple of weeks "Guitar Hero II" will finally be mine! :D

What a wasted opportunity with the wired guitar. I'm disappointed that Microsoft wouldn't let go of their vice-like grip on wireless tech for this. If any controller needed to be wireless, this would be it.
Bad form, Microsoft. Bad form.
