More fuel for the September Halo 3 fire

Following 1UP's speculation that Microsoft could drop the Halo 3 hammer in September, IGN reports its findings on the matter. According to IGN a "big-name publisher and well-established development house" have both revealed that Halo 3 will drop in September to beat the holiday rush. The developer is apparently "close" with Bungie (like, are they dating or something?) and stated that shipping Halo 3 in September will allow Microsoft to beat its competition to the holiday punch. This will allow Microsoft to sell more systems before Sony and Nintendo release
We're Halo fanboys to be sure, but honestly, we can wait 'til November. Seriously, have you seen how many games are coming this year? There will be plenty to keep us busy until the Master Chief is good and ready.
[Thanks, dpcough]

now here is the question - how big are the balls at the Microsoft/Bungie Marketing departments?
Because if they are HUGE (and i mean HUGE) you start releasing marketing materials in the summer - with no branding on them - that just say: "Finish the Fight that They Started - September 11th, 2007" OR "In 2001 the epic battle of our time started... it ends now. September 11th, 2007"
Never mention Halo or MS or Bungie... just get it in their minds that something is coming... Then pull the ads after a few weeks - drop the slogans for good and start advertising H3.
9/11 is the second tuesday of September - a viable release date for a game...

I'm sure this is their goal, but I would be very suprised if we see Halo 3 in September. Obviously, pleasantly surprised, but I'm fine with November.

Paul, that is quite possibly the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

How is it done? This game is a license to print money - and what better way to get it and more systems into people's hands than to create interest in one of the most agressive ways possible. Did I say they would do it? No, as they most certainly will not. HOWEVER if they DO it it would be groundbreaking/revolutionary... its only a matter of time until someone markets on 9/11, and who but microsoft can absorb the blow if it doesnt work out well? Additionally if it doesnt work out well it wont bring H3 sales DOWN, it just wont push them UP.

yes! cant wait! lets hope bungie announces this soon...since it seems like the cat is out of the bag.

Look-ill say it again for the cheap seats-the Halo 3 release date is...the 27th of November-you can stop the speculation, that is the ACTUAL release date-you can quote me on it,and remember i said it.
RETTIGNick @ Mar 17th 2007 1:51AM
i dont know if this means anyhting and i would be perplexed if anyone else has not said anything about this yet... but i found this odd, i work at blockbuster and our computer system had the release dates for well of course, everything that has a set release date... and i checked the release date on halo 3 jsut out of curiousity, and the computer system state "09/09/2007" now i cant say that this date is the set date, nor do i know how accurate it is, but it seems to fall in like with what has already been stated here, but it is nice to know that it could possibly be that soon...

Umm Paul? "It's only a matter of time before someone 'markets' on 9/11"? First off you grammer is horrendoes, so you are either 10 years old or a complete and total dumbass. Second, Ever heard of a few little films by the names of "World Trade Center" or "United 93"? Very good films, sure, but they made money off of the 9/11 name. Better exmaple and more fitting is the simple fact that assholes sold pieces of the rubble from ground zero on ebay. Trust me, people have been making money off of those events for the past 6 years. You my friend are a sick person. Wether you meant to come off that way or not doesnt matter. It wouldnt be "revolutionary" or "groundbreaking" at all. It would be morbid, disrespectful and downright sinister. Bungie would lose al respect and there would be protests out the ass. Would peopkle still buy the game? Probably. But Bungie would go down in history as the biggest dousche bags in the industry. You my friend are a complete retard. Go jump off a bridge.

Halo 3 will not be release on Sept as rumored. It will be released on Nov 9 07. Believe me or not. Remember Nov 9 is a Xbox/360 big release date. (Halo 1 and Halo 2. Both release on Nov/9)
