matthew @ Mar 26th 2007 9:31PM
Is this coming out in stores tomorrow? Sorry if that's a dumb question, I've been kind of out of the loop on this.
HHHawk @ Mar 26th 2007 9:19PM
Totally awesome expansion, achievements go along with the rest of the game. You get 20pts for going to the Isles. This looks totally different than the rest of the game, definitely cool lookin' expansion!
Tony @ Mar 26th 2007 9:46PM
Apparently it will eventually be included in some sort of "special" version at stores, but from what I've understood it won't be available as a standalone retail product for the 360.
Jack the Ripper @ Mar 26th 2007 10:00PM
Okay, its done, I got it. That was a huge bitch. Now how do I start it?
Jack the Ripper @ Mar 26th 2007 10:24PM
Hey, I figured it out. You have to find a bed and rest for twenty four hours. In case anyone else was wondering and will happen upon this.
lee @ Mar 26th 2007 10:29PM
@Jack The Ripper
thanks ;P
Arcaynn @ Mar 26th 2007 11:46PM
Why can't I have an optical internetwebs line? Must. Play. More. Oblivion!
Stranger @ Mar 27th 2007 1:12AM
Thrilled it's out. Can't wait to play it. But not for $30, no way. I don't go over $20 for DLC. Anything more than that and I want a disc.
How do you justify retail pricing with no manufacturing costs to consider? The game is about 25% the size of Oblivion, right? With 250 Achievements?
So why am I paying 50% the retail price of the FULL GAME for 25% the gameplay return, and no disc/art/manual?
I say good day, sir! And the same goes for your horse armor friend over there! Be gone!
pugg @ Mar 27th 2007 7:10AM
do you need the Oblivion disc to run this download? Or can it run as a standalone game?
Tom Danvers @ Mar 27th 2007 7:12AM
2400 points? Thats over £20.00 ($39US) here in England. Man. And no disc. I'm still going to buy it cos I'm a sucker. Shall I bend over Mr Gates?
Jack the Ripper @ Mar 27th 2007 9:31AM
pugg - Yes to the first question, no to the second. That might've been cool, though.
MR MCD @ Mar 27th 2007 12:53PM
I downloaded it..woke up this morning...restarted my xbox360...with OBV disk inside...and then that 'Please wait while loading new content' box came up... AND IT NEVER WENT AWAY!!!!... anyone else have that problem.... I couldn't go onto live to insure i got the whole download..because well..live was down... *sigh*... for those of you that have it working.. what were the steps you took after download to get this baby working...
Matt @ Mar 27th 2007 12:19PM
#12 Manufacturing costs are nothing. I'd guess less than $2 per box. Most of the expense is R&D, marketing, license fees, etc. and those expenses don't go away just because it's downloadable.
The 250 achievements points represents the limit imposed by Microsoft for add-on content. It doesn't say anything about how much content there is compared to the full game.
Luke Valentine @ Mar 27th 2007 1:34PM
mr mcd- same thing happened to me bud (uk) im hoping its because maybe you need to start it connected to Live, maybe it downloads a quick patch or something. failing that, im just gonna re download and hope for the best. i was soooo gutted!!
aragorn @ Mar 27th 2007 3:48PM
MR MCD, Luke: unfortunately I think you guys screwed yourselves. Yeah, on top of downloading shivering isle, you also needed to launch oblivion while connected to xbox live, as they did also release a patch. I kinda figured that would happen and made a point to do so before xbox live went down.
sorry guys.
neonspyder @ Mar 27th 2007 5:22PM
buh ... the only stupid thing about this, is that you need to be on 'live to validate expansions (and downloaded 'live arcade games).
pseudo.hero @ Mar 27th 2007 5:14PM
@MR MCD & Luke Valentine
There was a patch that came out, I though about it last night before I went to bed and sure enough it had to update. Sorry to bearer of bad news..
