Ex Remedy boss creates new studio, 360 title

Samuli Syvahuoko, the former co-founder of Remedy Entertainment -- the studio behind Max Payne and the upcoming Alan Wake -- has formed a new game company by the name of Recoil Games in Helsinki, Finland. With veterans from companies like Ubisoft, Guerilla Games, Electronic Arts and Codemasters, Recoil Games hopes to create hit games that will reach worldwide recognition, no small task. The company is currently working on an original IP inspired by classic disaster movies. The game uses a combination of in-house technology and 3rd party tools. The first Recoil Games project, still untitled at this point, should hit the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC sometime in the near future.

Alan Wake is one, if not THE one killer app for me this year. I can't wait to learn more about it and see how spooky-real it really becomes.
I'm one of the biggest Silent Hill fans you can find..I love the feel of that genre.
Halo 3, and GTA 4 are up on my list too of course, but I always like to root for the underdog (here in terms of media coverage, not game quality.)

A small new game company like this should concentrate on PC and Xbox 360 development for their first game title.
The Playstation 3 is too difficult and too time consuming to develop games for. Playstation 3 is also the most expensive to make games for, and it has by far the smallest installed base of users, which means Playstation 3 is the biggest risk for a new game sereies.
Xbox 360 and PC are developer friendly game environments, which allow developers to do lots of customization and innovation with the games they design.
Xbox 360 and PC should be the primary platforms that this new game is designed for. Otherwise, it will likely be a failure.
