Gears of Warnament starts next month

Microsoft and World Cyber Games are holding a tournament for Gears of War starting on April 9th and continuing through May 6th over Xbox Live. For those four weeks, registrants will compete in online ranked matches, where the top 11 players on the leaderboard will win a trip for two to Prague, one of the inspirations for the "destroyed beauty" look of Gears of War, to compete in the finals. Registration opens today and continues on through April 29th. Fortunately, they mean it when they call this a "Global" tournament, as over 24 countries are eligible to enter. Are you going to give this a shot? Do you think everyone who registers will "play fair"?

Let the "Roady Run" glitching begin...

HA! Seriously, Gears of War is one of the worest experiences i've had on XBL. Not only because of glitchiness, cheating and lag. This games sports the worth shooting engine i've ever played on.

Sorry im a n00bcake, but what exactly is the roadie run glitch and the chainsaw glitch, whenever someone explains it to me it always confuses me

All that matters is that this is stupid. The only way this would really be fare is if the leader boards were reset or something. Or, if their was a separate leader board that they used. Otherwise this is a cheaters game.
Also, what about the ppl who have no lives and all the do is play GOW till 5 in the morning.
They should only count points during a certain time period.

If you look into their rules, they say they are going to look into any game where people score over 500 points. So I have got to imagine if people are boosting by playing with their friends and continue to down them over and over again it should be caught.
The roadie run glitch is where people are running and shooting at the same time.

There s no point to me entereing a tournament with a flawed leaderboard system like GOW. I simply cannot play 24/7 like some folks can. And GOW rewards players with points. So the more you play, the more points you get. I can play 20 matches a dayand win all 20 and would have less points then the guy who played 80 matches in the day, and only won 40.
I think ill pass on this tourny.

This is ridiculous! The lag on this game is so much that they can't be seriously thinking of an online tournament. People who play with international friends will know what I'm saying. It's too laggy!!!!!!!!!

All I know is, after Terry15 winning that Halo2 tournament by nefarious means, they better go through and make sure any person they are sending to Prague is legit.
NitroFrost @ Mar 29th 2007 7:42PM
They should reset the leaderboards for this.
chris @ Mar 29th 2007 9:58PM
well is it somewhat possible that they will have a patch out by then that will fix all the glitching?
i have friends that have put the game away until the glitches are fixed...and my rep sux cuz i boot people who are glitching after telling them how lame they are...
i dont think epic and microsoft would hold a serious competition when everyone obviously knows how horrible all the glitching has gotten...ESPECIALLY in ranked..thats the reason i dont play

Well great...I go to school...and im gonna miss out on the vast majority of this tourney cuz of finals...great.
Not that I would enter though...I've lost my touch with GoW. I just played a game...and i got ravaged. that game is going to get a trade in after the next set of downloadable content.
Charles @ Mar 29th 2007 11:10PM
Read the rules. It's a joke. Unless they are talking about some other leaderboard that doesn't have it's top 10 infested by modders.
KrisVancouverWa @ Apr 12th 2007 1:06AM
Why not make a temporary game type called "Tourney" and make it a totally random match placement so people have no way of stacking teams to cheat scores and also limit each person to playing 10 matches a day so that each person has the same chance to gain points and actually doing well will show in the final scores and allow the best players to collect the prizes??
I cannot faithfully participate in such a "Tourney" because I always have cheaters stepping on my honest gaming.
