GTAIV Trailer today
In just under 7 hours, the Grand Theft Auto IV Trailer should be hitting the series of tubes. Hopefully you've properly prepared yourself for this. We're interested to see what kind of hype this will generate, with the logo having been showcased on FX for a half hour accompanied by the ticking count down. Also interesting to note is that the xbox.com Game Detail page showcases box art which could be placeholder, as it's just the "IV" logo slapped on the template for 360 Titles. That's not to say that it couldn't be official, but it greatly differs from all the box art since GTA III, which may actually be the point. In any case, we'll be closely watching Rockstar's game page this afternoon, will you?[Thanks, Chris G]

I'm no timeologist, but why is it that currently the actual counter on the page reads 7:52:xx, and your screen grab has 7:13:39? Are you posting from the future? If so, have the machines taken over yet? I know it's only been about forty minutes, but you never can be too careful.

@2 LOL

the countdown is based off your computers clock settings. if you set it to ~5:55pm you can see it count down to 0.
Studley @ Mar 29th 2007 10:17AM
The time changes according to your system clock, so you can actually make it count down to zero in advance ;)
Hoping for some good stuff tonight. If we find out ANYTHING - location, what year it's set in, that sort of thing - it will be awesome

what can the really do to the franchise? unless its got sum kick ass multiplayer then its just gunna be another rehash with improved graphics.

I've been hearing mumblings and rumors for a looooooooong time now that the multiplayer on GTAIV would be phenomenal. It was around the time that Vice City first launched that I heard they were shooting for a large scale massively multiplayer city where you would have little to no clue as to who was an npc, and who was an armed thug like yourself. Of course this could have all changed dramatically since then, and frankly, back then, it was just a concept, and it's unlikely that they were able to implement something so expansive.

I'll probably wait to see it on xbox live.

Since GTA 3 came out ive doubted Rockstar before the next sequel was announced. I could never see how they would top the game I just finished playing the hell out of, but then Vice city came out and I was once again blown away, same with San Andreas. I would doubt rockstar but I have no reason to. Bully kicked ass, Manhunt was very original, and I had a lot of multiplayer fun in ping pong. Im really excited to see the trailer and I REALLY hope they do alot with multiplayer.

Who cares about GTA? They keep making the same game over and over and it's wasn't that great in the first place. Crackdown is a much better game than GTA could ever be.
Carnie @ Mar 29th 2007 11:30AM
Well if you think about it for a second they more then likely didn't have the power of the past generation of consoles other then PC's, to really focus on multiplayer.
That and as noted by #8 every game they have kicked it up a notch. They really brought the sandbox of games into the world of games ya know?
I believe that a true open multiplayer along with a sick story that this game is going to flip all of our wigs.
For me it's only 5 and 1/2 hours left with a pack of depends on standby...
Mike @ Mar 29th 2007 11:47AM
Hey, where do I change where my name links to? my domain got sold from under me (illegally) by godaddy, now it leads to spam.
Scott Beeson @ Mar 29th 2007 11:59AM
I've had this set as an active desktop item for weeks. I see the countdown all day long. Only 6 hours to go!!!
Arno @ Mar 29th 2007 11:59AM
W0000t!!!
I can't wait!!
James @ Mar 29th 2007 12:24PM
@11. I disagree. While Crackdown is a fantastic and fun game, it just scratches the surface. You are a superhero and you go after gangs and gang leaders. That's about it. Three or four gameplay sessions and I was through the game! I had a lot more fun playing through and finishing Saints Row and after playing GTA3 I went onto GTA: San Andreas, jaded with any other GTA releases.
I will admit, another GTA could well be the same old game. If Rockstar's putting in a good wager, I would like to be surprised with what is coming in "IV".
james @ Mar 29th 2007 1:48PM
Next-gen, Euphoria, multiplayer, HD - sounds alright to me...
resdog @ Mar 29th 2007 3:18PM
this just in from rockstar, they have decided to scrap the entire game, start over from scratch and bundle gta4 with duke nukem forever, using the unreal 9.2 engine :P
colin @ Mar 29th 2007 5:10PM
lma0@resdog...i'm still waiting for the news that duke nukem is a ps3 exclusive (that'll be the final nail in the sony coffin, it'll never ship!)
back on song, i can't wait for gta4, with crackdown finally giving it some competition its time for rockstar to really push the series on. multiplayer's a cert, just can't imagine how that'll play out.
microsoft are really starting to realise what gamers want: quality games, and by ensuring the ps3 doesn't pull their lead back by knocking of the exclusives (read gta4), its happy times for us 360 owners...even God's with MS now!!:

I've been weeding through their code in an attewmpt to find the swf file, however, the only thing i've learned is that they're fans of the big lebowski.
