Upcoming Gears update fixes glitches & adds gametype

DAKing240 let us know about pretty big news for you gearheads out there: Mark Rein dropped into the Gears of War forums to leave a couple tidbits for fans. The next update for the game is currently in certification and he'll have more news for us next week. What he said this week, though, was very promising. For starters, there will be a bunch of glitches fixed, 720p support for VGA users running 1280X1024 and most importantly, a new gametype. Called Annex, Mark says that he's gotten great feedback so far on the new mode, and can't wait for us to get our hands on it. So, you think this new gametype will coincide with the Global Tournament?[Thanks, DAKing240]

Nice! I'm at a loss what "Annex" could be but hey, I'm not picky -- any new content for GoW is good news.

Im thinking that Annex is going to be capture the flag style battle (Like in COD3 in the game type where there is multiple flags)
If im right its going to be loads of fun

I wonder if this update negates the other DLC that was rumored to happen, as in new weapons for multiplayer? But yes, "Annex" = "Capture-The-Flag" would be a lot of fun.

I dont care about new gametypes as long as douchebags quit weapon sliding and roadie running...its seriously getting old
i cant wait for some new maps and weapons personally...maybe the new game mode will put a new spin on the maps we already have?

stop roadie running? thats part of the game, anyways I'd like to think that annex is a free for all mode in which everyone is against everyone, i know its supposed to be team based but it has evolved past that

The roadie running they are referring to is the Shotgun-run where you are in a constant roadie run but can strafe left and right at a moments notice. It makes people hard as hell to hit. As for the weapon slide...I don't mind that one as much. I hate being crouched down behind cover and there is a weapon right in front of me but my character seems to need to stand all the way up to kick flip a weapon into his hands. Lame!

This is great news. Annex is most likely a territory based game, which would be very interesting given the tactical style of the game. For example, one team may control the sniper spawn, and the other team may send one member to flank them and take control of the area and...
What am I saying? I'm probably totally wrong about how this will work...

the only glitch i actually like from Gears of war is the weapon slide, sure its cheap but everybody does it now a days so its not unfair. the only person in a game who can't do it is the host and he can of makes up for it with his host powers and such. tho i hate long jumping, glitched roadie run, instant blow up with chainsaw. oh and i just found out how to get unlimited smoke nade tags, i hope they leave that, its fun :(

Roadieing running is a cheat, if all players are not able to do the same moves then it can not be considered fair, If the only way you can win is by cheating then thats up to you, but not in my room

I don't do it, I have never done it. I hate when people do it, because it takes away the struggle for the weapon. Like the Boomshot on Gridlock. Anything in the game that isn't part of what epic wanted in the game is not needed.
The roadie running everyone is talking about is that stupid strafing glitch, and yes that needs to be gotten rid of. Even though, I never have problems killing the person, because they suck at the glitch, still its really annoying trying to hit them.

Everyone who says they don't mind it is a cheater. That's it. I host most of the time , so I can NEVER do it. So why the hell is it okay if you do it? You're a cheater and you're probably too dumb to get weapons without the sliding glitch.If you want to pick up weapons without stopping, pop in Halo 2 and every other game out there where you don't have to. But don't make us non cheaters seem like dicks because we haven't given in to peer pressure. This reminds me of the MLB players who did steroids because, " everyone else was doing it!" If you can't compete legally ,quit.

All you do is cry because you can't glitch, and then you lose. But if you could, I bet bottom dollar you would, so you all should piss off. If YOU don't like the glitch moves, don't play the damn game. Start your own room, and wait, and wait, and wait, till someone joins you. But 9 times out of 10 they will glitch and beat you. So all you can do is kick them out. Then what??? Keep waiting for people to play. What a terrible circle. So why don't you all just shut the hell up, and get better at the game rather then crying "you cheated" like some 8 year old school girl. Fools... Hahahahaha!

You should be TOTALLY barred from playing online just like people who aren't fit for society are put in jail. They are called glitches because they're development side effects which were not intended as gameplay mechanics. People who use glitches should be reported and then if they get more than 10 cheat reports in 1 week should have a 3 month suspension from Xbox Live. The best way around playing with TWATS like Morath & his beloved cheating family, is to just to play with a regular group of friends.

its funny, the glitcher accounts should be patched so that when they glitch their max run speed is reduced to half of normal speed so they are in slow motion for a penalized time for glitching...this would make them realize how being disadvantaged really feels muahah

Does anyone want the new xbox 360 elite thats coming out? My friend just got one...for free (well actually a pre-order). Any xbox fans should jump on this! Viridium, I agree with you 100%. I play with a close group of friends/family. None of us ever glitch or cheat. We believe in true competition.
Where is the fun in exploiting a cheat or glitch to win a game? Frankly I just don't understand it. I figure its just a bunch of snot nosed kids that use the glitches cause they have no skill.
