Guitar Hero II Rocks out today
We've waited for months for this day, and lo, it has arrived. Guitar Hero II is out and ready to allow you to jam to the likes of Aerosmith, KISS, Alice Cooper, Stone Temple Pilots, and even shed a tear for My Chemical Romance. Packed with 74 songs and downloadable content available in the coming weeks, this spring is starting off with a bang. So here at Fanboy Towers, only two Fanbloggers have the intention of getting the game, half of which are able to pick it up today, and we'll let you take the wild guess who's who in that situation. But the situation we want to know is whether any of you, dear readers, are planning on busting out the tunes today. Who here is going to rock out and grab GHII today? How about later?

according to ups.com, my copy from red octane (complete with free gig bag) is out for delivery.
ZeroCorpse @ Apr 3rd 2007 10:00AM
Too expensive, man. I like Guitar Hero, but not enough to fork over almost $100 to play it at home. I'll just go to Best Buy and play theirs for free until the price drops.
Curt @ Apr 3rd 2007 10:17AM
My local target just told me it was recalled and would not sell it. Brilliant.
Leathersoup @ Apr 3rd 2007 10:15AM
I was asking about the pre-order for this game before EB even had it in their computer. Picking mine up at lunch.
WhiteNunsOnDope @ Apr 3rd 2007 10:19AM
No way I'm buying this wired item for $90. I'll wait until they give us wireless. This is just retarded, do they know it's 2007?
Adam540 @ Apr 3rd 2007 10:21AM
I want it now but my 360 bricked recently and I need to save money to fix it. Man I'm pissed. It had better be fixed before the Halo 3 beta.
murph @ Apr 3rd 2007 10:26AM
hurry up UPS man!! where are you? i will pay you to come to my house first today.
Jim Kane @ Apr 3rd 2007 10:22AM
I'm trying to concentrate on work for the next 30 minutes -- after that, I'm off to Gamestop to be their preorder slave. I feel so dirty.
Joshua @ Apr 3rd 2007 10:26AM
I'm out to pick mine up after work. This is the first game I have ever preordered. I am a relative n00b to the game but after playing it once at a Wal-Mart (which was embarrassing) I was hooked.
But as a left handed person I still can't figure out which hand to use. Right now I suck equally on either hand.
Let's hope that wireless controller will be available before Q3 of this year.
spot778 @ Apr 3rd 2007 10:30AM
Grabbin' mine in about 30 mins.
Joshua @ Apr 3rd 2007 10:30AM
I have a question for those who say $20 is too much.
Wasn't GH2 $79.99 when it came out on PS2?
I thought that was the price point and if it was just because this game is a 'port' doesn't mean it should be available for $49.99.
It's a full game with lots of tracks. Add a controller into the mix and I can't figure out what price point people that complain wanted for this thing.
I'm not trying to be rude. (heck I'm lucky to have a job where I can afford fun stuff like this from time to time) I'm far more interested in seeing what price points people find this product should have been placed at.
ZenGaijin @ Apr 3rd 2007 10:32AM
I am just waiting for my gamestop to get their shipment. Should be able to play around 1pm.
Jedimonkey @ Apr 3rd 2007 10:33AM
just picked mine up...the new guitar isnt that bad, even for leftys (though we're screwed when the pedals come out)...I like how they moved the songs around for the new ones
Conspiracy Zero @ Apr 3rd 2007 10:34AM
Picked mine up at 10:00am when Circuit City opened. And got the free 1600 point card.
Interestingly enough, you can get the free card if you order online through CC also.
I want the wireless guitar, but I also want two guitar's for co-op, so when the wireless hit's I'll buy it separate and have two guitars.
quasar281 @ Apr 3rd 2007 10:46AM
Just got back from Circuit City, got the 1600 MS point card with GH2 free. Awesome deal!
Hoffer @ Apr 3rd 2007 10:56AM
I also was pestering Gamestop before they started taking reservations. Got my reserve in the day they started taking them. Actually thought about taking the day off from work to get it and play. Thankfully I'm not that big a nerd.
I'll pick it up after work and rock out tonight.
ChewyDogg @ Apr 3rd 2007 11:08AM
Waiting impatiently for UPS...
Matt Wagner @ Apr 3rd 2007 10:58AM
i sadly won't be getting mine until at least monday. i have to wait until Friday to get that precious paycheck, and i have about 35 pages of essays to write before i can totally forget about the rest of the world and pretend i'm Slash.
nathan @ Apr 3rd 2007 11:23AM
i pre-ordered from red octane and got the two guitar bundle. UPS says it scanned for delivery this morning. its balls that the guitars aren't wireless, but i can't wait any longer to rock out.
Todd H. @ Apr 3rd 2007 11:12AM
I'll be getting mine on Friday from RedOctane, I ordered the two-guitar bundle. It was a bit steep but this game is a blast and I can't wait for some battles in 1080 HD.

you guys complaining about the $90 price should try living over in the UK where the RRP is $140 ! still intrigued by the thought of it though..
Andrew @ Apr 3rd 2007 11:27AM
I'm going to pick up my pre-order from gamestop now
Chase @ Apr 3rd 2007 11:57AM
I've had my reserve paid off for months. I work at EB games so I'm going to go in before we open and pick it up then shred all day!
lastweeksfreak @ Apr 3rd 2007 11:54AM
Aris from Gamestop called me last night to let me know my preorder will be ready today....man she gets me all worked up.
adam @ Apr 3rd 2007 12:06PM
again
90 bucks is too much for one game and a plastic fake guitar controller thats wired.
Like I said in the past post. I can pay 2 utility bills for my house this month instead. I would probably pay 70 for it, but I would still think twice about it.
ANt @ Apr 3rd 2007 12:16PM
I got it, it's awesome!!
I suck at it, and the bad part is you can't unlock hardly amy achievements on easy......tough game but very fun!!
Fred @ Apr 3rd 2007 12:18PM
I got mine delivered today and work and now it's sitting right next to me. I already opened it up and got it put in the free gig bag from Red Octane. I should go put this damn this in my car so I stop looking at it every 45 seconds. Only 5 more hours to go .....
glenncou @ Apr 3rd 2007 12:32PM
Keep in mind that this game is not just a "port". All of the graphics have been updated (and new ones made), leaderboards, achievements. Don't knock the game simply because it wasn't released first or exclusively for the 360.
I'll be playing it (with my wife on her guitar) when they arrive via UPS today.
Sunny @ Apr 3rd 2007 12:34PM
I just got mine at Circuit City with the 1600 point game card. :D
I can't play it for another hour though... Doctors appointment in 20 minutes. :(
Pasha @ Apr 3rd 2007 12:53PM
I was gonna hold of buying it for about a month, but the 1600 points card from Circuit City a few people pointed out got me shell out the cash. I'll be picking it up tonight.
I wonder if the PS2 controller will work though the USB adapter? I doubt it, but i'll still try. I bough the PS2 guitar for Frets on Fire a while back.
guitarherofreak @ Apr 3rd 2007 12:55PM
I'm gonna call my gamestop at 11:00 to see if they have their stock. I put a pre-order on this, and I NEED IT! The first one is to me, the best game ever, and this will be better! To bad the guitar is wired, but still, I can handle it. But, I definetly will rock out tonight!
ProfessorStreet @ Apr 3rd 2007 1:04PM
I just got back from Circuit City in Nashville and picked up my copy with the free card. I was suprised to see no one else there waiting to get one. In fact GH wasn't even out on the floor and none of the employees knew about it. They hadn't even taken it out of the box in the wharehouse and even entered it in the CPU. It took about an hour and help of a manager just to get it. Total was $98.32. Can't wait to play it!
Jarrett Kaufman @ Apr 3rd 2007 1:10PM
I'm picking mine up after work. I'd get it at CC for the free points, but I have that $10-off coupon for Best Buy, plus $5 in a pre-order for it, so in the end I'd just be getting the points card for $15 instead of $20 and that's not a big enough deal to me.
Thomas Jung @ Apr 3rd 2007 1:16PM
I just picked mine up at lunch from KMart. Yep I live in a very small town so KMart or WalMart were my only options if I didn't want to drive 45 minutes.
The sales guy hadn't expected to sell so many. They got 15 in and put them out for sale at 8:00am this morning. By the time I got there at 11:15am there were only 4 left. I'm sure glad I decided to take an early lunch. Not bad for a town with only 6,000 people in our total population.
billfromesm @ Apr 3rd 2007 6:25PM
I just got mine. Anyone else notice that their instruction book makes no mention of the port on the bottom?
hendextall @ Apr 3rd 2007 1:59PM
I went to pick mine up during lunch, and I am glad that I did. EB only had preorders, and I grabbed the last copy from Walmart. Now I won't have to drive around the city looking for a copy after work.
zdgman @ Apr 3rd 2007 2:14PM
the 1600 MS point deal at Circuit City cannot be beat. I absolutely love this game and it is completely worthy the 90 bucks. I know the Circuit City I went to was almost out so it must be selling well.
Joshua @ Apr 3rd 2007 2:22PM
Can anyone say if any stores seem to be selling the additional guitars. I know I would like to get a second one today. I'll ebay it or something once the wireless comes out (I hope).
csangos @ Apr 3rd 2007 2:48PM
Picked up my copy today after some meetings along with a case of Murphy's Stout. Should be rockin' this evening.
King724 @ Apr 3rd 2007 3:07PM
Picked mine up at midnight last night. Gotta love the 24 hour walmart!
FeatherKing @ Apr 3rd 2007 3:19PM
@4
Curt did you ever get them to sell it to you? They told me they were going to hold it until they could figure out what is going on. But they are throwing in a 10% discount! I thought about going back tonight to see what the deal is..
Daniel @ Apr 3rd 2007 3:58PM
I picked it up this morning at circuit city and got the free 1600 points as well, but what's up with the songs? How do I unlock my Halo fix?
Mauricio @ Apr 3rd 2007 3:46PM
Just picked mine up an hour ago at the Circuit City in Orange, CA. They had 30 of them and i bought the last one!
cant beat the 1600 points!
Pedro @ Apr 3rd 2007 4:28PM
I went to Best Buy and told them about Circuit City's deal with the 1600 point card and they matched it for me! Way to go BB!
Dr Spank @ Apr 3rd 2007 6:32PM
I got the Circuit City deal, that's a screamin deal $20 in MS points... great deal, great deal. They had a *ton* of GH II's, Circuit seems to really be making a play lately to be a destination store for video games, they're better stocked than my local EB or Gamestop -- and they have items on Tuesday now, which was rare in the past.
TheHostileDwarf @ Apr 3rd 2007 6:10PM
I went to Best Buy and tried to use the $10 off "Games and Accessories" coupon but they only gave me $5 off saying that the coupon required a purchase of both a game AND an accessory. The asshole then tried to argue with me that the guitar is "Hardware" not an accessory. I'm pissed.
Christopher Gabriel @ Apr 4th 2007 3:46AM
I purchased my copy of Guitar Hero II from Best Buy in Honolulu,Hi. I had a coupon for $10 when you purchase $75+ in games and accessories (which I received through e-mail and I believe Xbox360Fanboy featured said coupon). When I was at the register I purchased the game and handed the coupon over. It wasn't until I had already left (I was in a hurry to be able to get to class on time) that I noticed that the price rung up was suspiciously high. When I went over the receipt I saw that they had only deducted $5 from the game. I returned to the store and explained that the coupon says "$10 off". I was told that in order to get my discount I would have had to buy games AND accessories, not either or. But I showed that with the wording of the coupon's terms and conditions has no mention of having to buy both. After explaining the confusion with the language on the coupon I received $5 back. Anyone else had the same problem when using the coupon at their local Best Buy?
