GTA IV scans hit the internet (and run)

Our buddies at Xboxygen nabbed over a dozen scans of Grand Theft Auto IV (GTAIV to the kids) from the latest Game Informer. The screens give a nice idea of the level of detail in the game, as touched upon by the recently released trailer. The shot above in particular is a great example of how alive the game seems to be. In this shot, you can see reflections on the car, realistic shadows, and of course, lots of pedestrians. It's unfortunate that this shot shows off two identical NPCs (the women in white shirts and jeans), but the level of detail is still very impressive. There are also some nice shots of GTAIV's locations, cars, and characters (including some character art). Hit the "read" link to check 'em out. Be sure to head back here and tell us what you think.

This is a google translatoion of the page.
- AWG IV will not comprise planes. - The era of play will be smaller than the episode San Andreas but denser. - The history of the play will leave more freedom to the player. One will incarnate Niko Bellic and it will be necessary to be made its own way in the play. - The design of the city and the missions that one will find there will not be made randomly. All is there for a quite precise reason, it is either directly related to the gameplay, or that takes part in the environment of the play. - There will be many nonAmerican characters in the play (“capital” of the world obliges). One of them is Niko Bellic. Its house is located some share in the east of Europe and was found in Libery City following an email of his/her Roman cousin: “I live a marvellous life, the American dream becomes reality, I have two women, 4 jacuzzi, about fifteen sports cars…”. Reality is very different, its consin is absolutely not rich and Bellic will have only like locates him on its arrival in Liberty City. - The pedestrians will not be any more simple puppets but will react in a more realistic way, they fûment, read, drink, make shopping etc - the animation of Bellic is very realistic and its step varies in a realistic way according to the ground on which it is. - A multijoueurs mode would be being studied but nothing is really announced for the moment. - There will be no loading put besides that of the beginning. Versions Xbox 360 and PS3 will be identical but exclusive episodical contents will be distributed on Xbox 360. Rockstar has developed the play for now 3 years and daN Houser compares the gap between AWG III and AWG IV like that between AWG and AWG III.

Good god... someone buy these people a scanner. Despite the poor quality of the captures, it looks impressive.

I think seeing 2 of the same NPC's is a good thing. It proves that the screen is in game and not rendered. nice..

Multiple identical character models always bugs me in games. I was hoping that by this point we would be free of them. I wouldn't think it would be hard to have some sort of randomizer with different clothing and such. I don't know anything about game development though. *sigh* maybe next generation.
