New Halo 2 maps are ready for action

It's not like Halo 2 fans really need us to tell them this, but the new Halo 2 maps are now available. The Blastacular pack contains two new maps, Desolation and and Tombstone. Desolation is a re-imagined Derelict, while Tombstone is the long awaited remake of Hang 'em High. Both maps can be had for the reasonable sum of $4. Remember, the maps have to be charged directly to a credit card, and they must be downloaded using the Halo 2 in-game downloader. If you don't have a credit card, you can also use a reloadable gift card, which you should be able to purchase at your local grocery store.
We'll be back with impressions of the maps later today.

HANG EM HIGH.
I haven't been so excited about a download since... I don't know when. Finally, Halo:CE can finally be retired completely...
Rest in peace.

Why can't I get these on my 360? Grrrr!
J8675309 @ Apr 17th 2007 11:06AM
There was no one on this morning, so I could only walk around them, but....
Desolation feels like it will really play well in Hardcore, but the new maps won't be used in Hardcore, gah!!!
Tombstone, idk, it seems too cartoony.

It won't let me download them on my 360.... I have a credit card on my account,... did I max it out?? Anyone else locked-out? (pun)

Seems pretty stupid that they aren't putting this on Marketplace. They have one of the best online digital distribution methods in place, and they're not using it? I have Microsoft Points that they're not going to let me use. Looks like I won't be buying these now. Nice going!

Cant retire Halo untill we get Prisoner. I miss ratrace sometimes too.
And Boarding Action.
Ok, fine. I miss all the old maps.

You can't download these through XBLM because its an original XBOX game. You have to go through the downloadable content in the game itself.

I have a 360 and it downloaded just fine. The maps are awesome
Razor1138 @ Apr 17th 2007 12:50PM
I got 360 and it plays fine. And Btw, $4 is a good price...for Tombstone. Desolation is just a nice little joke of a map. I would have to say 90% of the Halo 2 players DIDN'T Want that stupid remake, NO ONE but maybe a few Bungie workers...just looks like an all rockets map if ya ask me. But I do like Tombstone.
erivera3 @ Apr 17th 2007 12:56PM
I keep getting an error saying "Premium purchases are not enabled for this xbox live account."
How the hell do I enable that, I want to play these levels.
Razor1138 @ Apr 17th 2007 12:59PM
If ur using a reg Xbox go through Account Management and select premium content thing.

@erivera3
i was having the same problem and the only way i could fix it was this: i created another account (used the 30 day free trial of xbox live) and first clicked on that account and chose to download/purchase the maps with that account. then, as expected, it said download failed you will not be charged. then i went back to my main account and tried the same thing as before i created the new account and it worked fine. except for having to create the account in the 360 dashboard, all of this was done in the downloadable content section on halo 2...
erivera3 @ Apr 17th 2007 1:09PM
@Paul
So I first download them (fail to download) with the new silver account, then I log back in with my normal main account and try to do it again?
Grant @ Apr 17th 2007 8:15PM
so, is anyone a little disappointed with these maps?
all the other maps that got released had something special about them, and i at least liked them, if not loved them.
But these ones, even as remakes....
Does Tombstone feel too cramped to anyone else?
i remember hang 'em high being a fairly decent sized map, but tombstone feels like it's been shrunken down at least 50%.
and wasn't there supposed to be fall damage? i tried my hardest and couldn't get any.
vadermaggot @ Apr 18th 2007 1:42PM
Grant, this is Halo2 not CE you don't have fall damage. the map is from CE not the game mechanics.
