Hate reading? Halo 3 beta analysis video

We posted our own analysis of the recently leaked Halo 3 beta video in the wee hours of the morning earlier today. Unfortunately, it was comprised mostly of archaic written words (much like the post you are reading now). With the advent of moving pictures and recorded voice, the weaknesses of our written speech become abundantly clear. In other words, if you prefer watching to reading, you may want to glance at the video above. It seems that Joystiq did their own fancy and newfangled video analysis of the leaked video. It's chock-full of Halo 3 goodness and definitely worth a look for eager fans. Keep the faith fanboys, only 21 more days until May 16th.

Geez the analysis is so detailed... when I first saw the leaked video I thought "meh, it's just Halo 2 but shinier" but now you've opened my eyes to all the new stuff and made me realize what a bunch of Halo nerds you guys are.

Cool video though.

Great analysis, annoying narrator. I mean the best has to be the narrator for GameTrailers.

Anyway this should be good for all those who are shouting "Its just Halo 2 ffs!!!1!!1!11"

I bet the glowing blue thing is just the "personal gravity lift" he mentions.

Also, I've seen the HD version of the original video (who hasn't?) and it's absolutely stunning as it is - if they tried to make it too much more realistic, I think they'd lose the "Halo look and feel". That said, some of the textures and models are stunning already, and with another 6 months work should be even more amazing.

he looks like he's farting around. I was a top 15% gow player and was top 30 in halo 2, but I at times play like this guy.. just.. farting around. He seems to be a recreational gamer.

Reminds me of those complaining about the music. It's annoying on purpose, to rub in bungies faces about the leak. Duh. "oh why'd he have to choose this music!?" STFUUFingNbs

I think the graphics are fine, and i'm sure it'll look great in high defintion, but i was hoping bungie would take it in a more realistic direction, kinda like what Halo Wars showed in their trailer. Just grittier and more realistic looking, that would've been sweet.

the narrator from gametrailers is worse and annoying and he copied most of 1ups stuff from there vidoc analysis and joystiq is decent and somewhat annoying but 1up is the best, joystiq second, and gametrailers guy last

@7 I disagree, or can I not, since you are stating facts and I'm just stating my opinion. Though in reality, outside your bubble, the things that you are saying are nothing more than opinions.. beh.. ha

The guy at gametrailers is quite the best I've heard. He sounds like a laid back guy and his voice isn't irritating like most of these narrator guys. This guy has quite the nerd power voice. His voice screams nerd. Some of these gamers just love the nerdy sounding folks that emulate them, maybe you both have something in common.

Just my opinion.. heh.

But the guy over at the gametrailers is the best.

i just like that the 2 guys at 1up pause the video and point out stuff unlike that guy on gametrailers who puts red messages on the screen when he can pause the video and say what he see's even though everything he see's is said on the 1up analysis of the vidocs and commercials and plus the guys who do the analysis played the muliplayer last november when they had the halo 3 blow out thing. I just rather listen to 2 guys from 1up/egm who's career has to do with games then a guy from his house who has nothing better to do

that "blue thing" kind of looks like the invisibility core doesnt it?

and the green in the sniper rifle is very similar to its halo ce counterpart.

also, that personal grav lift you spotted has the the same base as the new equipments symbol did! Maybe that was it!

nice vid, @ 2, you said it was just halo 2 but shiny, and then called any one who looks in to depth nerd, well actually i didnt learn anything new from this video, i saw it all in the originol.

the game looks amazing, basicly its halo 2, with new items, player features and a new look, all that on crack.

my rating: F*&@ing amazing

The graphics do look awfully similar, though the "HD" version of the video I saw was only 720x480 (and not the 720p standard). I'm not expecting Gears of War type graphics, but they could atleast throw on some HDR lighting or something to shiny it up a bit =p

Though having said that, I realize (and everyone else should too) that multiplayer graphics are not usually a representation of single player graphics (because of bandwith issues) so we shouldn't be too critical anyway. From everything I've heard, we won't be playing the map shown in the video, in the public Beta come May 16th. They already showed 3 maps that they made seem to be the 3 we'd get to play. Honestly, I'm hoping this zanzibar remake isn't one of the three, or atleast they'll make it 4 maps we get to play. Why? Well...I can still play Zanzibar on Halo 2, so why do I want to play a remake? It makes no sense to me, it's not like Zanzibar is nostalgic or anything.

Power Drainer= object that will drain sheilds.
my buddy whos in the beta told me. there will also be radar jammers. he said that they will make a ton of little red dots show up on your radar.

And that new symbol what they say could be a EMP bla bla..is the grav lift for sure ...just look at it on the ground ....

GOD this guy's voice irritates me. He sounds exactly like I imagine all gaming geeks sound like, all cynical and whiny.

And who cares if the guy playing in the video is aiming well, etc.? From the video it looks like no-one is really fighting, but rather just exploring the level.
