Microsoft can be mother of all teases, sometimes. They sent out a press release today with the simple message "Save the Date - Friday, May 11th, 2007. Join us for an exclusive preview of
Halo 3". The event will be held in New York and San Francisco. Unfortunately, due to geographical disadvantages, the Xbox 360 Fanbloggers will not be in attendance for such an occasion. Fret not, as our lords and masters at
Joystiq will be present and laughing at our misfortune. Hopefully, they don't treat Microsoft with the same respect they do
us. What do you think could be announced just 5 days shy of the Beta's release?

Duh.
Release date of May 17th.
Just kidding.
Probably a release date in September though.
KilgoreTrout XL @ Apr 25th 2007 4:46PM
Hopefully they'll give us a glimpse of the campaign.

what a waste. They should of done a full blown preview of halo 3 at e3 last year, not 5 days before the beta is released and we are gonna play anything anyway.
jason @ Apr 25th 2007 4:55PM
They will either show a video of a single player mission or play through a multiplayer. they are doing this cuz e3 would have been around now and they will tell us the release date in july.
Tarl @ Apr 25th 2007 5:01PM
My guess it an Oprah special, and everyone in the audience wins a copy of Crackdown.
Grindstone @ Apr 25th 2007 5:12PM
Good call, Tarl. I'd better get my Oprah tickets ASAP.
True, typically they could have handled this at E3, but since that is no longer, looks like we get a press release instead. SP or MP... both, perhaps? I think with the recent leakage vid, and the supposed 1080p bit, maybe MSoft feels obligated to clear up some things.

Is there any way to get invited? or is it open to the public? I live 15minutes from San Francisco.
John @ Apr 25th 2007 6:05PM
I foresee a single player vid with finished/mostly finished graphics, just so people (hoepfully) won't constantly say the graphics in the beta are Halo 2.5 five days later.
DjDATZ @ Apr 25th 2007 6:11PM
I'm guessing were gonna see a release date. By the time they have the beta ready for an almost-public release, they'll know when their production run is and what dates they will be ready for everything. by then they'll probably even know when their going gold date will be...but of course...they wont tell us that...obviously.
and they will make that release date for sure unless some HUGE and FUNDAMENTAL error is uncovered in the beta...which i highly doubt will happen knowing bungie's track record...
King724 @ Apr 25th 2007 6:25PM
you want singleplayer info? *yawn
gimme multiplayer info or give me death
...or a release date
erivera3 @ Apr 25th 2007 6:26PM
Highly doubt it's a release date, I think it is too far away to give a certain date like that. I bet they will show some video of some finished or near finished single player gameplay to show off how frickin beautiful this game will be and to shut up the haters.
Dragod @ Apr 25th 2007 6:48PM
Sweet, my birthday is May 11th ^.^
Madd Mardigann @ Apr 25th 2007 7:49PM
Is there any way you can send fanboys in your stead? I live in San Francisco and would love to go!
Aaron Peckler @ Apr 25th 2007 10:21PM
Madd i diddo that i live near sf and i would love to go
Boff @ Apr 26th 2007 5:12AM
Ooooo maybe they'll announce a new font they're using for the title screen.
LunarDuality @ Apr 26th 2007 1:20PM
If you're sending Fanboy fans, then I can fend off the Joystiq clan here in NYC!
mattclarkie @ Apr 26th 2007 1:29PM
We congratulate all those fortunate enough to take part in the Beta trial. Once we have cashed your cheques for £54.32 we will send you a code to redeem your download.
Happy Fragging.
or
Due to a defective fusion core at Bungie HQ the entire Halo 3 Build including all back-ups and the entire technical staff have been destroyed, fortunatley this also took out a massive covenant fleet trying to excavate the Ark.
Because of this incident Halo 3 will be rebuilt from the ground up for Microsofts 8th Generation Console the XstationCube 4.
This game will feature groundbreaking 5030P and display all 12 dimensions a first for Video Gaming. To achieve this microsoft will harness the power of the MDisc a propriatory optical disc based around spinning electron orbits and allow for a massive 123TB of data.
And ofcourse the most powerful processor Known to man "Broadway" with the graphics powered by a modified "Cell Broadband Engine" will be needed to utilise the entrance into Multi-Dimension Gaming.
Happy Fragging in 2013
mattclarkie @ Apr 26th 2007 1:32PM
For anyone unsure out there "Broadway" is the IBM PowerPC used in the Wii. But most readers of this blog should know that.
