Gears of War movie script leaked
The sneaky lads over at LatinoReview.com have unearthed the first twenty two pages of our Gears of War movie script. The website, known for posting legit movie scripts prior to their release, summarized the leaked GoW movie script in full detail. And it's weird that since the movie's announcement all we've wanted is more information, any information on the movie. But now that the first twenty two pages have been leaked and are ready to read, we just cannot look at it. Call us wusses, call us babies, but we don't want to spoil the enjoyment we'll feel when we see Gears on the big screen and watching the story unfold for the first time. Nope, we refuse to taint our Gears movie fun, but if you're daring enough to read all the juicy details by all means go ahead. We're just crazy anal about things like that.[Thanks, Machiavelli 420]

I read the first couple of paragrams...tis awesome so far. gives somewhat of a backstory to the events of gears.
also x character gets his freak on.

Well, I took the plunge and read it. Without revealing anything, I can say it looks promising. BUT, I am not sure about how it would do in movie form. It does make a great piece of Gears-related fiction, but my problem is that it feels to much like it is written for the game, not the Gear's Universe. Too many possible instances that feel 'Doom-like' in terms of the action. I just want a movie with a story about the Gear's Universe, not specifically about the Gear's game.
My 2 cents.

I want the actual script but that was interesting. Pretty different from the game and wheres the berserkers?

I can see this becoming a huge pile of crap if they don't get the direction and casting spot-on-perfect... Which given New Line Cinema's past, we have a 50/50 chance of getting.
Muffin_man @ Apr 29th 2007 11:43AM

Wow that's pretty cool! I have doubts aboot it... espically if it's not a CG movie =P But I would like to see the full script summary please... Why'd they have to cut it off like that? =P

"We see Marcus coldly use his chainsaw bayonet on a Drone and kick its mangled body over. The blood dripping off his face."
my eyes lit up when i read that part lol
Aero @ Apr 29th 2007 5:52PM
Well, I'm glad it's staying close to the game and not just using the name.

Don't get your hopes up. Gears was barely an outline of a plot. Halo had a much better fleshed out story, and they couldnt get that produced. Maybe they arent being as protective of Gears though.
Which means it'll probably suck.

This treatment sounds great so far, but I'll wait until a script gets leaked. So far, it sounds a lot more "survival horror" than the Gears of War game, featuring more running away than combat. I also like that the treatment reads essentially like a prequel to the game, with little to no overlap.
This makes me wonder if Gears is set in a universe which includes on Earth, because the treatment mentions humans being on Sera for only 500 years, implying that it is only a human colony.

Seemed pretty shitty to me. I don't know what kinds of movies you guys like, but it read like a horrible and cliched movie. Hell, the Doom movie read better than this.
jimhuf @ Apr 29th 2007 5:04PM
sara jessica parker is in it! she plays the love interest

That script looks like someone was just trying to cram everything from the game into a movie so that people living in their trailers will go and watch the movie, tip a beer to the screen and go, "Yep, just like in that there game!" LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAME. This movie will find an audience primarily made up of Appalachians.

Marcus = Ron Perlman or Mickey Rourke (if Ron Perlman isn't General Raam - I can't imagine him getting cast in a role that doesn't require at least 60 lbs. of latex/makeup)
Gross Greg @ Apr 30th 2007 5:58PM
Dominic Santiago = Jon Leguizamo
Augustus "Cole Train" Cole = Michael Clarke Duncan

You're alone in the theater...
No... no, there's someone else here...
No, you're alone, and the words are coming into focus...
