Leaked Halo 3 video bonanza!
Update: The videos have been pulled from YouTube. And we imagine bipchizzle has been pulled from the beta. Only a few more days and we can all play it for ourselves.
If Halo 3 were a boat, it would be nestled comfortably at the bottom of the sea right now. You see, we're talking about leaks. A YouTube user by the name of bipchizzle has posted several new videos of the Halo 3 beta. The quality isn't fantastic (he was using a Vision Camera) but we do get a halfway decent look at some weapons (including the new M6G pistol) and a brand new level called Epitiah (perhaps a misspelling of Epitaph?). As an added bonus, the video embedded above actually features Major Nelson! We've embedded the other videos after the break. Please note that these videos use some salty language, so turn off the sound if you have sensitive ears or if you're at work. Get 'em while the gettin's good. We've still got an hour or so before people start waking up in Redmond.
This is a new indoor level, Epitiah.
A much longer look at Epitiah. A closer look at the new pistol, plasma rifle, BR, and SMG. Beware of offensive language.
Here we get a look at an outdoor level, possibly Valhalla. At approximately 0:24, we see what could be the power drainer item. It creates a radius of energy of some sort, presumably to drain the shields of your opponents. The video goes completely black about halfway through.
This video shows off the user video "File Share" section, presumably where you can download Halo 3 videos made by other players. There is also a glimpse of the Spartan customization options. Only 13 days left, fanboys. Stay strong.

So I' been aware that this is merely a beta build and doesn't reflect the current graphical status of the game. With that said, I am still impressed with the graphics. In the top video, he unintentionally, I assume, focuses the camera on the AR at an odd angle. But when he's focused on it you see some suprisingly nice polish to the gun that was definately missing last time around.
The M6G pistol is dual-wieldable. I did not know that. I would assume a pistol would be but given its power I would think it unwise. This is another reason it makes sense to remove the zoom.
The plasma rifle looks much more accurate and with a high rate of fire. Huzzah. 'bout time. Hopefully they reintroduce the Paralyzing effect it had in halo 1.
A frag blows up in the river and sends a plume of water upward. nice.
At 2:44-2:43 in the Valhalla video you see him snipe an opponent who is carrying a mini-gun.
The radar looks much more indicative of player movement through smoother motion of the red dots.
The narrator is annoying.
In the Valahalla video, The player uses an entire assault rifle clip on an opponent who is somewhere between medium and long range. It doesn't seem to phase the player too much as he just keeps moving. Maybe the AR isn't as capable at long range as I thought. Still, he at least HIT the guy. The smg would have been as useful there as the infamous "needler and a hankerchief" combo.
Sniping doesn't appear to be any harder than it was in halo 2. It could be that this guy is good with it because, despite how anooying he is, he does know what he's doing. (espescially compared to the guy from the leaked Last Resort video)
I like what I see but I have to go to work. I'm sure Joystiq will examine these for all they're worth shortly but that's all I've noticed as of yet.

From what I saw of the water effects in the Valhalla video they seem pretty cool and the the power/life drainer seemed cool, you forgot to mention the radar scrambler i think for the x-button most likely
hopefully theres more videos to come i want to see him play some of snowbound or some of the vehicles

I did notice that he team killed with the sword. Great, the things that most of us hated about Halo 2 are now rearing their ugly head months before Halo 3 is even out. I also noticed that he said that the vision camera sucked and not to get one. I'll bet MS loved that endorsement.

in my opinion, everything we've seen of halo3 so far looks merely like a graphical upgrade of halo2. sure, maybe there are a couple of new gadgets here and there, but nothing has stood out as far as completely new, mind-blowing material.
i guess it'd be too difficult to really change something so much that it feels completely new.
i'll confirm my suspicions on may 16th!

I hate everyone who says it's merely a graphical upgrade of Halo 2, from all the videos we've seen so far it's quite clear that there's also a lot of gameplay enhancements, and refinements; how well they work has yet to be seen, but the fact that they're there is a big thing already.
Secondly, for graphical whiners, whom have for the most part subsided, you have to remember that the real graphical polish of the game will be in Single player, not Multiplayer, that's not to say the Multiplayer won't at least look good.

I hate the sniper rifle is so easy to use running upright. They should make you take a knee at least to get kills like that.
They haven't fixed multiplayer until they have made sure to ban all of the 8 year olds.

Videos looking good though, the guy that made them sounds like a dude. Hope he doesn't get his ass kicked too much for this, but to be honest, I think these leaks may have something to do with Bungie and may not be so "unauthorized" anyway...

When developers change a game from what it was into something that feels completely new, people dont like it (Zelda 2 and Devil May Cry2 are the two that come to mind).
If Halo 3 looked and played like Gears, I would be pissed. I love Gears, but it's not Halo.

In the second video if you look really closely the equipment he uses scrambles the radar to make it look as if their are a ton of guys around you going crazy. Thats pretty sweet for capture the flag tactics!

also, don't judge what you see on may 16th as the final product. It may look crappy to you now, but they have a lot of time to put polish on it before the final game comes out. The beta is just to test the game, so that it will be ready when launch time comes around. They could change a bunch of different things from what we see in the beta, to what we see in the shipped game. Don't be too quick to judge...

yeah, vids have been down since last night. i heard it was the kid of a microsoft employee. so if the videos came down, i'd bet that the kid's dad got fired my m$. which sucks for the dad, but even worse for the kid. i bet he's getting his ass totally beat right now.
the fact that these videos were pulled and it's such bad quality shaky cam makes me think that the last resort "leaked" video was not leaked at all. seeing as how it came out w/ a high-def version, and no vids of that were ever pulled down. interesting things to ponder. i don't see the point in banning bipchizzle's dad anyway, come 12 days, the floodgates of beta videos will come our way.

Well, the quality is a downer. But i noticed one thing (among others :) ), Are there metals? I noticed in HUD that there was a status thing, but i didnt see any metals
