First look at GoW's Hidden Fronts map pack
Still on the fence and not sure if you want to spend 800 Microsoft points on the new Gears of War Hidden Fronts map pack? Well, we fully understand your dilemma and thought we'd help out our fellow fanboys. Not only did we plop down the cash to buy the map pack, but we thought we'd pull back the secret curtain. Yup, we recorded a quick and dirty video of each map and showcased their uniqueness to give you a taste of what Hidden Fronts has to offer. And, as an added bonus, the video features informative (and somewhat creative) commentary by yours truly. But before you start mocking our lovely video you must know this is our first foray into such a project. Energy drinks were consumed, there was a bunch of swearing, recording, editing, recording, re-editing, and swearing ... but we survived. So, give it a watch, get a taste of the new Gears maps, and see if they are worth the 800 Microsoft points. Enjoy.
[Thanks, Grotesque1 for helping with the vid]

Not bad for the first time doing something like this. Maps look alright, though Bullet Marsh could get somewhat annoying with the Kryll. I may get the pack later on this month.

Nice vid. If anyone is still sitting on the fence after watching this, read what IGN has to say about the map pack.

Looks fun..dat wuz informative..I wonder if the Kryll map could be more of a bitch to deal with than the others, considering you can't hide easily.
I love the atmospheric rain maps, so that and Subway look to be the more interesting two of the four for me.

OOOoooo so that's why you didn't join my game last night. wow I'm embarrassed. Nice job Dustin.
andres 360 @ May 4th 2007 9:26AM
hey, that was pretty cool
I think the new maps are great, but still not worth $10.
Benjamin09 @ May 4th 2007 9:44AM
The Subway level is probably the best map in the pack. Its kind of a cross between Mansion and Gridlock.
These 4 maps are worth every penny of the $10.

i love the metro map
the process is also ok

Great vid, Dustin. I hope this is the first of many.

M$ has stuck these maps smack dab in the middle of the player match cycle. So you get booted right after cannals if you don't have the new maps. Tricky, tricky. Plus, the last two days, pretty much every available match during the day has been on one of the new maps. Microsoft wins again.
CalabreZ @ May 4th 2007 3:01PM
Im tryin hard to refrain and fight the wallet abuse. Unfortunately, I dunt think anyone is waiting it out with me! All matches are new maps. I dunt know what to do!!!!

A great map pack. I`m not of the worrying kind when it comes to the cash, but hell, I love playing the new maps.
I think they have done a great job, and the maps are better than most of them you most likey already have. Come on guys, don`t be greedy.

Hey awesome stuff, you should do more of it, I read X3F everyday so keep up the good work, the only prob with the maps is that not everyone has them or are getting them due to the 800 points charged when there are so many glitches still in the game and alot of people exploiting them thus ruining the experience. On the other side it costs $70 Aus for a gold membership and on top of that Microsoft is charging us more, I mean its awesome for the new maps and stuff but the glitches has to be fixed instead of creating new maps. Also microsoft should invest in some dedicated servers like Sony to host games.
