Hydrophobia announced, very wet
WorthPlaying has the game announcement and synopsis for Hydrophobia, a survival adventure game that pits you on a city sized ship in the middle of the ocean. Unfortunately for you, there's a terrorist attack on the boat and your character, Kate Wilson, is not only part of the security detail on the Queen of the World, but she's also a hydrophobic, which she developed in her early teens. A slew of screens and a full breakdown of how the gameplay and story meld is available by following the "Read" link. The use of the HydroEngine for the water is very promising and worth the read. Is this a potential sleeper hit?[Via Digg]

I've seen this before, Am I the only one that thinks this game looks like crap. And that their Hydroengine looks like poop compared to Bioshock's water system. And now that we have their lame storyline.... I mean come on. One word..... LAME!

It makes total sense for someone with a fear of water to work on a boat.

They're using the plot to The Poseidon Adventure II? LOL

"It makes total sense for someone with a fear of water to work on a boat."
Fear of starving from a lack of money is a bigger phobia.

this looks bad. this is like steven seagal plus the aliens from 'signs.'

I don't really see a problem with it. The idea is kind of weird, but so what? As for the water, I haven't personally seen any examples in Bioshock where it reaches heights like in these screens... I don't think it looks all that bad, regardless.

So you play a person with rabies on a security detail aboard a ship when it's attacked by terrorists?
I think they should rename the title to oh, I don't know, Aquaphobia, since hydrophbia is the technical term for rabies.

Oh my god, OMAC, you're right! I can't believe I didn't notice that *smacks self*

This is looking pretty from the screens. Sell me on some good shooting and I'll go for it. No guns make me a sad gamer. :)

Oh my god! I reckon this could be pretty special - seriously! I really like the idea of having water that actually effects gameplay - I mean I'm guessing the character is going to get affected by the water so that could be good! tbh i reckon you guys are being a bit out of order, i mean, at least they're trying to do something different!
