Hour of Victory demo ready for download

We all knew it was coming and the Xbox gods didn't let us down, because a new Hour of Victory demo is available for download off the XBLM. And before you get your hopes up, word on the street is that this WWII shooter isn't all that memorable. Actually, we're hearing it's the opposite of memorable and more along the lines of forgettable. But we haven't got our mitts on it yet, so we can't be certain. So, we recommend that you give the Hour of Victory demo a download and base your opinion on your first hand experience. Or just wait a few hours until the masses weigh in with their critique.

Only took about 10 minutes to download but i really wish i hadnt bothered. I spent the whole demo hoping that it was going to end. I dont play on a HD TV but the graphics still look poor compared to other 360 games. The Friendly AI is very annoying had one guy shouting the same speech over and over again at me. Ran into one of the Friendlys and he started saying im on your side??????? I mean even the tank combat was poorly presented. Id just replay Through CoD 3 instead of buying this tbh.

I have to agree. When I saw the Unreal Engine, I though, "Man this is going to look amazing!" Unfortunately I was sadly mistaken. Come on COD 2 looks way better than this garbage. It looks like they got a bunch of interns together and said, "go for it. Make your own game kiddies" Controls feel very clunky and the friendly AI as stated above seem to be very annoying. Not even a rental in my opinion.

This game is trash, don't bother. Although the extremely overdone ragdoll physics in the game were cracking me up the whole time.

it wasn't worth the download, the graphics were ho hum, which is more than i can say for the gameplay. seriously, the only halfway decent elements were clearly stolen from cod, your given a metric shitload of grenades, which are about the only useful weapon they give you. and as far as i can tell there are 4 death animations, which are straight out of every war movie ever made. the shot to the head, clutching the chest, the legshot stumble, and the blown into the air with a grenade. dont even waste you time, this is gonna get 6.0 reviews if they have enough time to finish it in its current state.

Wow, I hate to jump on the bandwagon but after playing it I can say I was throughly unimpressed by everything.

It controls bad and as the sensitivity for left stick is too high and the right is far to low. This makes aiming a chore, couple that with enemies that blend into the bland brown backgrounds to well and you would have an annoying gameplay experience just waiting to happen.

Like everyone else...I was extremely unimpressed by this demo. Right from the start.

The controls are....terrible. Everything is in the wrong spot. The melee on right bumper feels really weird, and so does sprint on left thumbstick click and crouch on b. Nothing feels right. Also, looking around was a pain and didn't feel very responsive or natural compared to almost...every FPS out there.

Also, it was terrible in a demo sense. When you play as the sniper or covert ops...you don't actually use their skills, instead of have to go and use the tank because theres no other ways to take the enemy tanks out. I wanted to actually see what these characters would do but I could'nt. It didn't help that the AI was bad, either.

I'm sad that I wasted my time downloading this. :\

I saw this last night before heading to bed, so I downloaded it and gave it a shot. OH MAN, DOES THIS GAME SUCK! Everything seemed like a poorly cobbled together rehash of COD 2. Terrible graphics and visual effects that make no sense (why does everything get bright yellow/orange when there's an explosion nearby?). I shot one enemy and watched it spin around and twitch for 30 seconds...yeah, it just kept spinning around on the ground on it's own after I killed him. The map is terrible and unreadable (maybe on an HD display you can make out which white blur reads N, but not on a normal tv). The standing position icon is a direct rip out of COD. The friendly AI is terrible and annoying...after clearing the section before you have to defend the HQ, I wanted to look around at the environment a bit, but was incessantly barking at me to "come on, over here, come on, over here, get moving, over here, come on, come on, over here...". It didn't let up until I finally went to the checkpoint and it was audible no matter how far away I was from it, either. So stupid. I just about choked when I saw that this used UT for it's graphics. It looks like absolute garbage. It makes me wonder who at Midway needs to be fired for allowing this turd to squeak through quality control. They'll be lucky to sell 5000 copies. HORRIBLE.

Terrible. Controls are awful, no idea why they strayed from the tried and tested control layout. Also very unresponsive, just doesn't feel fun to play.

I have an HDTV and, as it states in the beginning of the demo, it's an HD Game. Boy does the opening cinematic look good. Oh, you mean there was more? Just like that question the rest of the demo is a joke. Ugly. Sloppy controls. Wish I never saw it. Waste of my time.

yeah this game blows! I agree I would rather play through Call of Duty...2 before playing this steaming pile. Horrible A.I., actually it was just an all around horrible gaming experience..I quit the demo after 10 minutes of boredom. What a disapointment. Then again I wasn't expecting much.

Plays awful and I really didn't like it but I was saved :O

I lobbed a grenade in there and well must have some problems with the code as the game froze (maybe physics error). Reminded me when you used to put loads of barrels etc on HL2 then blow it up and what the code explode with errors. O well probably sell atleast 2 copies.

Yea the controls need work, haven't tried tweaking the settings yet, but its not bad (which isnt really good enough) but i'll wait until later before i make a proper decision

I downloaded it last night and I just loaded it up now. I can easily say this is one of the worst shooters I've played. The AI is retarded, the graphics do not look anything like it should be on the Unreal 3 engine....it's just awful. I love WWII games (I've played pretty much all of them), but this is one I most definately wont pick up. Just awful.

What I hated the most was that god-awful aiming. How can you cover you own back if you turn at 10 degrees a minute???

And then there's the generally low quality. The presentation looked more like a 9 year-old's PowerPoint presentation. Animations are as fluid as a rock. The wannabe-cover system was actually cool when crouching behind low cover, but sucky otherwise. And the tanks? Oh jeez...

So I just found out how to make this game kinda, sorta, fun. Pick the sniper guy and go through the entire game sprinting at people and smacking them with your gun. No shooting allowed.

I agree with all the sentiments expressed by previous posters. This game sucks.

I wonder if anybody can truely say they are surprised. Nfusion hasn't put out a decent game yet.

I just downloaded it, wasn't available in the UK yesterday. I agree it is bad, the AI pissed me off royally, the animations even in the cutscenes is terrible and the colours were completely screwed. The button layout needs a change and at one time I threw a grenade and for some reason it looped and through all 10. Finally on one bit the same 3 enemies just kept spawing on the roof and one of the enemies on the roof was scaled about 3 times larger than the building, in fact one enemy I saw started flying and got stuck on a telephone pole or something.

However I must disagree with the sensivity, I could aim easily, but the layout and tank controls were absolute ****. My tank got stuck and it took ages to do a u-turn, the stick just wouldn't respond, and crouch should be R3 unless you have prone in which case B is acceptable. And you move so damned slow, you can't move and hold in R3 what is up with that.

I thought that CoD3 was disappointing, but it was atleast fun and well made. I will not buy this game in this state, Blacksite was bad (shame but I'll still by it) but Midway now you have gone to far I could make a better CoD clone with my dog doing the motion capture.

I felt like I was playing some cartoon shooter. What's with the bodies freakin flying everywhere when you hit them up close.
The game looks stupid.
Nothing about it impressed me.

The demo wasn't pulled, I don't think. I still saw it the other day. Downloaded it much earlier though, so didn't try if the dl still worked but I'd think it does, if it's visible in marketplace.

Anyhoo. Don't think it's quite as crappy as everyone makes it out to be:
a) it's a demo;)... it (IMO) can have some flaws alright, it's not a final version after all
b) you can actually also get out of vehicles in this game ;), I think in cod2 you had trouble getting out of tanks, if I remember correctly

So, despite trouble with the graphics and whatnot, I'm not yet giving up on this one. Might still turn out okay *keeps fingers crossed*.
