Shadowrun demo coming tomorrow
It looks like promises made to Mitch Gitelman will have to wait another day, as the Shadowrun demo is going to be hitting Marketplace tomorrow at 2:00 AM PDT, instead of today, as originally planned. Kimona from the game's official forums updated her demo FAQ thread with the new date and time information, which still gives everyone the down low on what will be available in the download. Fanboys, we entreat you, please play the demo and give this unique first person shooter the chance it deserves. Heck, we'll sweeten the deal: Anyone sitting on the fence who needs proper convincing can call upon our resident Shadowrun aficionado to play with them and show the appropriate ropes. To make things even easier, we have a special gamertag available with an empty friends list, so add it to your own for some Power Station fun tomorrow.

from what i understand about this game, the learning curve is what is keeping my away.
There is nothing worse than joining an online game as a newbie and get owned and verbally assaulted because you've never played before. Thats why i don't play Gears online. I think there's a gamer law that if you're good at an online game you have to hold the mic between your lips, breathe heavy, and call everyone everyname nasty name possible. (I guess that even makes you cooler). I wish you had to pass an IQ test to play XBL.
As for Shadowrun, I'll get the demo after H3B. Also need that new 120GBHD.

Good form, fellas. If you need someone to help out people just message me or something.

Also, to those who fear this games "learning curve" let me tell you this, there's a lot of depth to the game, but for the most part you should be able to figure out the buy system at the very least, and that'll get you started. Also don't be shy, let you're team know you're new to the game, there's plenty of people on who will show you all the various ropes that the tutorial does not.

I was a beta tester for this game and I was not impressed. Why would anyone buy a game with no true single player games.
yokken @ Jun 6th 2007 10:16PM
I just got Shadowrun today. The learning curve wasn't that bad. You just have to know how far the Teleport will get you, and how to use your spells effectively. Those are pretty easy to get good at, so get working. I'll see you all on my first day of summer!

I just started the single player Vegas campaign (I bought it the day it came out, and been playing Multiplayer almost every day since) and it's fantastic.
Tank8131 @ Jun 7th 2007 2:47AM
Agreed! Please! Please! Please! Give this game a try. I knew nothing about the game when I bought it (not really smart, I know) and I've enjoyed the heck out of this game. What's best is that you actually get to know the people you are playing with and after a round or two of being completely confused as to who's doing what everything seems to fall into place. Everyone will know who's going to be rezzin', tankin', rushin', or...running away. In the end it is obviously your choice...but that choice should be obvious.
gemeyer @ Jun 7th 2007 5:26AM
Don't bother playing the demo, just pick up the game and play. I didn't think too much of it until I actually connected with a game, then I stopped play any other 360 game. I even stopped playing COD3 to play Shadowrun. It's actually addictive once you get into it, which doesn't take long really. Having a mic and using it is a really good idea because communication is both key, and something you could spend hours enjoying on its own. Get a group of dudes with a couple of drinks in them and it's an unadulterated slam-fest.
The gameplay is similar to team fortress, but the addition of magic, and the glider, makes this one of the coolest games ever.

I still want my shadowrun II. sequel to the great (and completely different)snes and genesis RPGs.
Stephen @ Jun 7th 2007 5:16AM
Its 2 AM and its not there. Sounds kinda familiar.
Stephen @ Jun 7th 2007 5:31AM
yeah but I don't have the money to buy it yet :P
scnd @ Jun 7th 2007 5:45AM
Why do they give us launch times they can't meet?
Seriously, forty minutes later is not a small delay. Just say it'll come out an hour later and if it's early, no one will complain.
Anyway, I'm planning on picking the full game up today, but I wanted to try it out first.
scnd @ Jun 7th 2007 6:55AM
Apparently, they need to say it'll come out even more than one hour past the time they're shooting for as we're now going on two hours late.

Colin, I know how you feel in Gears... Toph, please count me in for the online gears training after youare done with Halo beta
Boss Tempo @ Jun 7th 2007 8:01AM
Shadowrun kicks ass. You can always set up your own bot matches and practice before getting pwned online. The bot AI is some of the best I've seen. Seriously, don't bother with a demo - just get it. You won't even want to touch that Halo crap after you get the feel of Shadowrun. Teleportation alone is worth the price of admission.
HazyCloud @ Jun 7th 2007 9:15AM
Shadowrun is awesome. I like many others, have bought the retail version and have only played online a few times. If anyone would like to train me or show me the ropes, shoot me a FR to HazyCloud. I also have the demo if we need to do it that way. I love the game, but I just keep getting pwned. Although I still love it even if I am getting schooled.
