Talking with a Valve representative,
Shacknews was able to pry a firm release from their lips for a little box set known as
Half-Life 2: The Orange Box. The game will hit retailers on October 9th, so we advise circling the date on your calendar with an orange marker so you don't forget. Orange marker, because it's the orange box ... get it? And to refresh your memory,
The Orange Box is a bundle that will include
Half-Life 2,
Episode 1,
Episode 2,
Team Fortress 2 and
Portal for the low, low, next gen price of $59.99. How we see it is that October will be all about carving pumpkins, eating candy corn, and playing a whole lot of
Half-Life 2. Cavities be damned!

Yeah, I need to get a second job to buy all the games coming out in the next few months.
Good stuff, glad it's coming out sooner than later.

$59 for a 3 year old PC game with a bunch of pack-ins doesn't really feel like a deal to me. Especially given that I've played CS: Source to death.
I look at this as $59 for Team Fortress and Portal. Team Fortress is 6 maps (only one supporting CTF). Portal is a 4 hour campaign.
Shadowrun is a bargain by comparison.

This is perfect timing for me, since i'm not a big GTA guy. this can be my bridge to november and Assassin's creed and, hopefully, Mass Effect.

October 2007 on Valve's calendar is like April 2011.

October is my favorite month. This just makes it better.

Will Team Fortress use lists to find games? I would prefer that to match-making any day.

Hmmm. At first reading this artical I was mad because the release date I had was 9/25. But after thinking about it, this will free me up a little more to be enjoying my other big september game releases.....Mass Effect and Unreal Tourny 3.

Team Fortress 2 = class-based MP done right. (Shadowrun be damned.)

AHHHHHHHH i cant wait until this friggin game comes out. Sept 25, Oct 9th, i think i can save until then and keep the money until then, and then whenever UT3 comes out in 2008.
