Bungie offers Halo 3 campaign screenshot love

Bungie, being the thoughtful and kind hearted souls they are, decided to share some Halo 3 screenshot love with the Halo community today. Above (and even bigger here) is the campaign screenshot featuring Master Chief in front of a mountainous backdrop standing in his signature heroic pose. Admire the reflective armor and scan every pixel to see if you can find any secret campaign dirt embedded somewhere in the screenshot. Ooh! Wait! We think we found something! Oh no nevermind, it's just a smudge on our computer screen.

"Damn!! That looks like shit compared to anything the PS3 has to offer!!" I'm being sarcastic as a blinded PS3 fanboy might exclaim. This only makes me more excited about HALO 3. Too bad PS3 fanboys had to shell out a few hundred dollars extra for a system that has yet to prove that it's any more capable than the 360 in the hardware department. What a joke the POS 3 is!!

Here's the biggest compliment this image will get: I hate Halo, I thought the graphics in the Beta were junk, and I'm not even remotely interested in Halo 3.. but that shot looks great!

No aliasing, for starters, and much more realistic lighting. Good for them!

P.S. I still hate Halo, though.

Man, you people shouldn't be fooled so easily, this picture is totally bogus, you know this is not in game footage. Remember when Bungie released "gameplay" footage of the Halo 2 opening? Yeah and when we all took it home and played it, it looked like total snot!
Good job bungie, you released a mediocre BETA and have to do whatever you can to make sure your game sells.

I'm not so sure that bungie said that footage was ingame, but the demo/trailer shown at E3 04 was revealed months before the game released with comparable graphics to the actual release in November.

And now, I finally know, deep within the being of myself, that this WILL be, UNDOUBTEDLY, for DECADES TO COME...THE...BEST...GAME. NO IF's, AND's, OR's, or BUT's. PERIOD.

However.

While this is in game footage, this is NOT gameplay footage. Its a cinamatic.
This game is good for the 360 and what its going to do to the PS3. But thats all this game is to me, a tool. If this game wins game of the year, it will only be because of sales. Noway this game will get better ratings then Mass Effect or GTA4, be realistic.

Mass Effect and GTA IV will be great games and look amazing soo far...

But I don't understand how you could remotely think Halo 3 wouldn't have an opportunity to win game of the year....

Halo doesn't sell because it smells like roses... Halo sells because it's the final product through years of Hardwork, Cutting edge art design, Unparalled gameplay and one of the most genius and clever storylines I've ever experienced.

Games are meant to be entertaining... I guarantee Halo 3 will be... I'm entertained just looking at this screenshot !!

Game of the year is based on these 5 categories:

Graphics - Halo 3 has no problems in this area... If you look at detail they surpassed GOW

Gameplay - I know for a fact revolutionary things will happen in this area

Artistic Design - The scope/size of the levels are Mind-blowing in Halo 3

Music - The best I have EVER heard in a game...

Story - The most cryptic and metaphorically complexing story ever told in a video game

Now with that said... consider GTA IV out (shitty music, half decent story, etc) Mass Effect is the only game I can see competing with Halo 3 in the near future for game of the year.

"Halo is not a tool it's a Standard" and should have nothing but respect as being one of the best if not THE best gaming franchise in history.(It's already the most successful)

The Halo franchise is just a "tool" as mentioned earlier. You only think it will be a great game b/c of how hyped it is. Oooh, new shields, no gravity effects.
@16 I'm not sure what you mean by calling me a "fanboy", the only fanboy I could be would be a 360 one right? Since I am at this website, and I do own a 360 and no other current gen hardware. Oh I'm sorry, I didn't buy a 360 for Halo 3 like most of the other drones did. Hmm, let me think of better games, like Gears of War, Blue Dragon, Rainbow Six Vegas etc. etc.

Halo CE was an outstanding game... PERIOD

Halo 2 was revolutionary in it's story telling, cinematics, graphics and gameplay

Halo 3 I don't doubt for one second will be a completely unique and refreshing experience. It's Epicness, Scale and Chaos has not been heard of in gaming as of yet.

(Trust me I know, I've read the script twice and peed a little in the process)

Lastly... Why the FUCK are you assholes wasting your time visiting this site, reading the updates, clicking on the comments section, registering your E-mail, typing up a comment, going back to your E-mail or memorizing a password just to confirm the comment and then repeating this process if you don't even fuckin like the game ?!?!? You're wrong AGAIN... I would really like to know who pissed on your version of Halo 2 because the final product ended up looking better if not just as good as the initial E3 video.

With that said... I came to these 2 conclusions...

#1 WHO GIVES A SHIT about HALO 2 it's done it's in the past. The picture you're looking at now is true Halo 3 Gameplay and that's that... It looks good, just face it !!

#2 You take the retard bus to school in the morning...

Halo 3 is a tool. It is being used by MS to literally burry the PS3 like a shovel.
As far as some of the other stuff U said...
U are smoking crack if U think Halo 3 is even in the same ball park visually with Gears Of War. Exactly what is revolutionary about the gameplay? Its the same FPS it has always been. Ur really funny guy. The music is actuall pretty nice cant say much there. But the best ever? Lol hardly,U seriously are Halo obsessed to say such things. Infact ur just what MS wants. The story is good but damn kid, "the most cryptic and metaphoric of all time? I guarentee even die hard Halo fans are laughing thier ass off at your comment. U must be very easy to please and have a very low IQ.

As far as this game goes for game of the year its got a punchers chance. But I'd put money on GTA4 or Mass Effect.

That pic is in campaign mode right? The answer is, yea it is. Thats not true gameplay footage guy. Its a cut sene. Halo 3 looks little better than Halo 2, sorry, its just a fact. As far as Ur love 4 the game goes, whatever U do, just wash ur hands when you are done.

I'm gonna tone down my extremism and offensiveness a little. I don't wanna offend anyone personally. But just sit down, put your balls away and open your ears for a minute.

Everyone has their own opinion and that will never change. Some ppl will just never agree and some ppl are just soo stubborn they have no way of understanding any idea's or concepts outside of their limited intelligence or "Outside of the Box" if you will.

However... The game looks VERY good... Forget the character model and look at the scenery in the background... Those mountains and tree's look like the exact equivalent of any post card or forest shot I've seen. The effect their using is called "Dynamic range" and it hasn't been fully implemented into any videogame game until now. Ask any graphics designer.

Other than that... To each his own, if you think Halo is a tool then that's your opinion.

I think Halo 3 will be the beginning of the end for the PS3 but not because it's a tool used by microsoft but because it will be a solid, well done and completely envisioned game.

Just dont' forget the logic... People buy things because they like it. Bungie has entertained me with 2 products so it's safe to assume the 3rd will do the same. I see no flaws to thinking this way.

In terms of the story line... How can you tell me Halo 3 does not have one of the most complex and metaphoric storylines in video game history?

The entire game is based on archetypes out of Greek history and philosophy and mostly on characters and events from the Bible.

I'll explain...

Not many people have figured these out yet... some have but just listen and commence jaw droppage.

1) The word covenant means "A promise to god" the Covenant in Halo are one big promise to their gods that the prophecy will be fulfilled.

2) The Spartans were said to have been created in the image of the Greek warriors of Sparta... Greek government's were ruled at the time by a triumvirate (3 equal leaders) The spartans would constantly oppose these leaders due to their irrationality and scheming ways. (are you making the connection yet?) Truth, Mercy and Regret form a Triumvirate...

3) John 11:7 in the Bible speaks of Justice and The law being done through Moses as he is the chosen one to save his people. The master chiefs name and designation is "Spartan John 117"

4) In the Biblical story of Noah, a man was looking for safety in a dangerous world and found a ship called "The Ark". In Halo 3 the Ark (the Origin MC is trying to get to) is the only safe place where any living organism can survive the activation of the Halo's. NOW here' the crazy part... What are both of these Character's running from ? ... THE FLOOD !! Is that not fucking genius or what?

And must we not forget the term " The Ark of The Covenant" ... Oooo now it's getting scary !

5) In the Middle Ages Cortana was the name of a very efficient and ancient sword used to stab Kings in the back. (Foreshadowing you say?)

6) Get ready for this part... Approx 10 years ago about 3-4 years before the first Halo launched... There was a person claiming to be named "Cortana" who even had the E-mail Cortana@bungie.net. She sent many e-mails to the employee's of Bungie. All of them were very Cryptic, Eerie and Poetic. In one of her E-mails she utters the words... "I have stood with the ghost at the entrance, I have seen beyond the abyss I know you, your past, your future... "THIS IS THE WAY THE WORLD ENDS" The EXACT words she spoke in the first Halo 3 Trailer.

7) Lastly... I actually have the script for the game. I've read it... And it's awesome... Different... But Awesome... The game does NOT end in a trilogy... But I won't spoil anymore, if you'd like the script I can send it to you, just let me know.

If you already knew all of this then god bless you cuz no one that I've talked to has figured these out. I've been dropping jaws for the past year with these facts. This just goes to prove that the people at Bungie are PURE GENIUS !!

That is just a portion of the connections I've made after paying close attention to the story. If you think Halo's storyline is anything but complex and metaphoric then I dont' know what to tell you buddy... You just can't read between the lines...

And if you haven't read the books don't bother commenting on this... They're also very well done... Not to mention "Bestsellers".

And you're right I don't work at Bungie but I might aswell.
