Rock Band to have weekly DLC, Full Album downloads, and Metallica

As icing on the proverbial cake, selections spanning Metallica's musical career will be made available, with "Enter Sandman" playable on the retail disc. All in all, Harmonix is pushing Rock Band more as a platform than just a game, and we couldn't agree with the prospect more. We'll be back with hands on impressions and a proper tribute to Weezer as soon as we can.

HO. LY. $hit.
wow.
Jon @ Jul 11th 2007 7:31PM
PS - Knuckles, I hate you for being at E3. What are you most pumped about!?
zourskittles @ Jul 11th 2007 7:33PM
Look at Guitar Heros 'WE WILL HAVE MOST DLC EVER!' comment. This is the same company if I'm correct, but this would be SCHWEET!
mcchicken @ Jul 11th 2007 7:46PM
@3: Harmonix developed both but I'd bet the DLC choices lie with the publisher, and if anyone can churn out wallet-sapping DLC it's EA! Seriously, though, I hope EA can make this happen, and at least semi-affordably. I don't think I'd ever need another game. :O
Profit @ Jul 11th 2007 7:59PM
Hm, I dislike EA but I love what I've heard about 'Rock Band' and unless EA decides to release some free good faith songs from time (EA?! Hahahahahahahaha) to time then I don't care about their DLC content (or anyones for that matter).
Knuckles Dawson @ Jul 11th 2007 8:03PM
EA is a marketing partner for Rock Band, not the publisher. MTV is.
Zoot Suit Jedi @ Jul 11th 2007 8:07PM
Boom. Headshot. Anyone want a used copy of GH2?
DigitalGunfire.com @ Jul 11th 2007 8:13PM
This looks to be... the best game... ever.
colin @ Jul 11th 2007 8:15PM
yay weezer
i've got dungeonmaster's guide,
i've got twenty-sided die,
i've got kitty-pride,
and nightcrawler too,
waiting there for me,
yes i do.
everyone's a little queer,
why can't she be a little straight?
i'm dumb she's a lesbian,
i thought i had found the one.
we we're good as married in my mind,
but married in my mind is no good.
oh pink triangle on her sleeve,
let me know the truth,
let me know the truth.
as if i could live on words and dreams,
and a million screams,
oh how i need a hand in mine, to feel
my name is jonas,
i'm carrying the wheel,
thanks for all you've shown us,
this is how we feel,
come sit next to me,
pour yourself some tea,
just like grandma made,
when you couldn't find sleep,
things were better then,
once but never again,
we've all left the den.
let me tell you 'bout it.
The choo-choo train left right on time
A ticket cost only your mind
The driver said 'hey man, we go all the way'
Of course we were willing to pay.
i can't confront you,
i never could do,
that which might hurt you,
so try and be cool.
when I say ...
this way is a waterslide away from me that takes you further every day (hey)
so be cool.

Everything move behind Rock Band continues to be clever and well-thought out. These types of moves are things the market is asking for.
I keep pulling up these Rock Band articles expecting that the good streak can't last, but invariably they are right on target.
The only criticism I've seen so far is price, which is managable if the goods meet expectation.
Intentless @ Jul 11th 2007 9:27PM
Metallica... well now I have no choice but to get it... damn it... I could have held out... but not only is it Metallica but the black album... Although the only album that would give me pause would be St. Anger.....
Gemini Ace @ Jul 11th 2007 9:34PM
I won't be buying anything from Metallica. I haven't purchased anything with their name on it since they sued Napster. Eff you, Lars Ulrich.
Manvir @ Jul 11th 2007 9:35PM
Hopefully this wont be another dagger in the back like GH2
Tony @ Jul 11th 2007 9:36PM
I've been hoping for full albums for a while. The entirety of Boston's self-titled debut would be unbelievable.
Johnathon @ Jul 11th 2007 9:36PM
hmm...good news except for the metalica part.
Alex @ Jul 11th 2007 11:15PM
how come they werent this motivated for GH2....
J8675309 @ Jul 11th 2007 9:44PM
At this rate, all of Guitar Hero 3 will be available as DLC for Rock Band!
Stan @ Jul 12th 2007 12:47AM
I like how Rock Band announces this today, whule GH2 released more rapetime bundles.
Again, GG Red Octane, GG.
Grievy @ Jul 12th 2007 4:11AM
Let's just hope they don't overprice it like they did with the GH2 content.
Soooo can not wait for this though.
Caleb @ Jul 12th 2007 3:56AM
lets get some CKY on this game. maybe some death metal too like In Flames, Malevolent Creation. Get some real riffs on it.
incrediblebulk92 @ Jul 12th 2007 5:48AM
Yea but how much will they be? 500 points for 3 songs? um no thanks, if it was 500 for 5 it would be a definite yes
Leatherface @ Jul 12th 2007 8:02AM
Enter Sandman is a lame song. Everything after AJFA is pretty dull actually. They'd better have Master of Puppets in it or blood will be spilled.
dunnypop @ Jul 12th 2007 9:28AM
weekly downloadable content! WOW!
As long as it's not 500 points, I'm impressed!
Metallica! This is a GUARANTEED BUY NOW!
great, I'll be broke by the end of the year!
ps. GH 2 DLC still sucks!

-More Guitar Hero II content released at same outrageous price.
-The Strokes announced to be in Rock Band (along with other cool stuff)
If I have to choose between Rock Band and Guitar Hero III things aren't looking good for Guitar Hero III...
Neomattrix @ Jul 12th 2007 3:42PM
The whole "Who's Next"? I was sold for this game with Won't Get Fooled Again, but if Baba O'Riley and Behind Blue Eyes are promised, this is a face-melter.
