Peter Moore on the state of the Xbox
Peter Moore, dearly departed VP of Xbox, recently spoke with Gamasutra on a range of topics. Most of them, surprisingly, related to the Xbox 360. A little more specifically, Moore speaks on the Xbox's progress in Japan, the importance of exclusive games, multiplatform games, and how many Xboxes Halo 3 will sell (answer: "a lot of green ones"). Moore also talks about Microsoft's expansion into the casual gaming market (Scene It and those kooky controllers), the ease of 360 development in comparison to other consoles, Final Fantasy on Xbox, and of course, whether or not he is, in fact, the Devil. It's a good read and perhaps one of the last chances we'll have to see him do the PR dance for Microsoft. Hit the "read" link to check it out.[Thanks, un1qu3 n3wy0rk]
Update: Added vitally important "read" link. Kicked self in groin.

you guys arent only ones, im waiting to read it too. Since I used to work closely with Peter back at Sega, I always wanna get an idea of what he's up to, I guess i could try to call him over at EA but honestly hes so busy all the time it was a rarity for him to be in the office at sega and EAs WAYYY infinately bigger the campus is like 100 times bigger than the space at the Sega facility, so i know it would be worse. I miss working for him, he and my old team at Sega made working in the game industry my favorite job to date. I dont miss the office politics though, even though i must say its better at Sega, & namco than any of the other places in the industry that ive been at. Cheers Peter. Thanks for the coffee at E3! [lol just incase he's reading] ~Q

halo 3 maybe be good but i dont see it selling consoles like
MS or
Mooron thinks. Halo 3 has had a buzz since halo 2 ended i frankly believe that the people who now own a 360(11.6millon?) are the fans creating the buzz now and that number includes hard core players too. when i played the beta i felt like i was playing halo2 with a garphical upgrade and weapons pack. after the players feedback bungie started to add more weapons and was able to do so given the time they had left. i own a 360 so ill buy it because i just want to finish the fight but for the people who had not played halo2 i dont think it would appeal to new adopters of the 360 and thats why they released halo2 for the PC but i think it would of done better if they released it a 6 months to a yr. earlyer to gain an even larger fanbase maybe MS would of broke 12million consoles by now. right now the PS3 looks more appealing now that there gaining gound in ground in graphics and amount of games(my opinion! the ps3 did blow the doors off the 360s graphics on release date compared to the 360's example: perfect dark or resistance its the same conditions for both developers but t free to say i dont know what im talking about and call me a ps3fanboy or retard or just start a flame war if you so desire because for those who dont know me.i just dont give a flying fuck!!!

im gonna sound like a fanboy right now. i dont like how Moore includes multiplat games in the 360 line up like they dont exist on the ps3 when he says them i just sounds like fillers for the lack of exclusive games at the end of the year. even if the ps3 gtIV, DMC4, Madden is better on the 360 im gonna buy it on the ps3 because thats where i feel safe because i played those games on a ps2 the same goes for the xbox players. it just dawned on me that moore was with dreamcast i knew it but it never truly settled in. Wow now it looks like he wants to return the favor to sony for what they did to sega. i am SLOW! just my opinion(refer to the end of previous comment)

"i frankly believe that the people who now own a 360(11.6millon?) "
FYI -- just over 10 million people own Xbox 360s (or, at least, that's how many were sold by stores). The 11.6 million figure MS announced is how many they shipped/sold to stores.

Good read anyway.
I liked his comment about only needing Gamertag, Gamerscore and Acheivments as opposed to Home and the Mii's.
Keep it hardcore ;o)
