Xbox Live Marketplace experiencing problems

Those attempting to download goodies from Xbox Live Marketplace today may be experiencing a few hiccups in the system. We experienced the issue ourselves during our daily content check. When attempting to download content from Marketplace, we were greeted with a message stating that information could not be retrieved from Xbox Live. We're not certain what the issue is, but it seems as though it's only affecting Marketplace downloads at the moment. We've contacted Microsoft for more information. We'll post the news as soon as we hear anything.
Update: As some of you may have noticed, the Live team is aware of the issue and working on it. We'll update as soon as we know more.

it's affecting a few things - games in need of an update cannot be played without going through a failed update download, and seems the majority of the phantasy star universe community is having fun bitching about not being able to log-in to their mmo as well

Huh...had you not said anything, I wouldn't have even noticed this until I was out of work anyway. Tell you what MS, I'll do my job, you do yours...and make sure shit's fixed by the time I get home!

I wonder if this is related to the problem I had trying to play Carcassone last night. I'd press "A" to continue, both players in the room had the "continue" checkmark, but the game would never start...
And right before that, I was playing APF 2k8 when the audio stopped in the 3rd quarter, the computer wouldn't call another play on offense, and I had to turn it off (I tried ejecting the disk, but that just sent me back to the Xbox menu).
Weird, indeed...

While I had similar issues, I was able to download stuff in *way* less time than it normally takes (on 20Mb here), so methinks maybe they're speeding some stuff up and Marketplace is a bit iggy in the meantime.

Its back up (for me at least). Able to download the Nascar demo, and its going surprisingly fast (at 35% already). I'm on 10 MB connection so not sure if they've sped the servers up or not.
