Sunday Deal Rumor: Get 3200 MSFT points for $20
Today's rumor of Sunday deals is a sweet one, so sweet it'll rot your teeth from the inside out and that my friend is very, very sweet. GameRush is reporting that this Sunday's Circuit City ad will feature an offer for $20 off the purchase of two Xbox 360 accessories priced $19.99 or above. And so, if said rumor is true, you could purchase two 1600 Microsoft point cards priced at $19.99 (which Circuit City considers accessories) and get an instant $20 off leaving you with 3200 Microsoft points for $20. See, we told you the deal was sweet. But, it's just a rumor right now, because GameRush doesn't supply any leaked ad-scans so we'll have to wait until Sunday rolls around. But if it's true, we'll so be standing in line come Sunday morning for our bountiful Microsoft points harvest.[Via Digg]

If this is true, I'm buying at least for of them :)

Real credit should go to speedy1961 over at CAG (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=145407) who had this deal posted 6 days ago. I hate it when that guy doesn't get credited with news by sites like "GameRush". Speedy was also the one to break the PS3 price drop. He gets these deals WAY early.
It ain't a rumor: it's happening.
mirage @ Jul 27th 2007 3:22PM
I wouldn't be surprised to see Circuit City have a disclaimer attached that excludes Points from this deal, but for the sake of 360 Fanboys everywhere I hope I am wrong!!!
baby sea tuna @ Jul 27th 2007 3:31PM
Fingers crossed!
DjDATZ @ Jul 27th 2007 3:34PM
awesome! too bad this is only in the US.
Jon @ Jul 27th 2007 3:43PM
I'll buy four... as long as its not a mail in rebate - I frickin' HATE those. Though, there is a bit of joy when I get random a check 6 months later... until I have to go to the bank and deposit a whopping $20.
Jonathan @ Jul 27th 2007 3:49PM
Man I hope this is true.
And man o MAN I hope that they don't exclude point cards from the offer!!!!
Jonathan @ Jul 27th 2007 3:50PM
Keep us updated, X3F! I don't always go through all the sunday ads, but I come here everyday. I'm depending on you to stay in the know!
Does anybody know if CC sells Live Gold cards? This might be a good time to stock up on those as well.
The 7th Number @ Jul 27th 2007 3:57PM
If this is true i might pick up 6400 points for 40 dollars.
Mark @ Jul 27th 2007 4:00PM
Holy Microsoft Points Batman!
X3F, please keep us up to date on this deal of the summer!
Swampfox23 @ Jul 27th 2007 4:00PM
Does this count with games as well?
Arno @ Jul 27th 2007 4:01PM
FTW! Please X3F, keep us updated if this offer is going to happen. :)
Wildcat1080 @ Jul 27th 2007 4:45PM
i'll be snagging 3200 points if this is true
rockeranimefreak @ Jul 27th 2007 5:04PM
3200 points ftw! yup. :D
ccc @ Jul 27th 2007 6:26PM
Wow, even more so than an achievment whore, I am an Arcade whore. Will this deal be up and running on Sunday at open? All Branches?
nojok3 @ Jul 27th 2007 6:39PM
Anyone think Best Buy would honor this deal because their competitors are offering the same deal? I've got a gift card there...
YoRone22 @ Jul 27th 2007 7:29PM
Circuit City also has the 4000 point cards...8000 points for $50. Not bad at all. :D
Turboman @ Jul 27th 2007 9:32PM
"Circuit City also has the 4000 point cards...8000 points for $50."
Holy crap! Here in Finland (Europe) lowest price for points is 2000 points for frikkin' 24€ ($32), so 8000 points costs here $130. Awesome.. ._. I hate Europe.
TomoyoN @ Jul 27th 2007 11:16PM
It's not $50 for 8000 points its $20 for 3200 points
The deal that is gonna start Sunday is
Buy 2 Accessories $19.99+ and get $20 off
So buy 2 $19.99 1600 Point Cards for $19.98+Tax
If you were gonna do the 4000 point cards it would be
$49.99 x 2 = $99.98 - $20 = $79.98 + Tax
8000 points for about $80 is okay but not as great as the 3200 points for $20
Mike Hunt @ Jul 28th 2007 1:57AM
Tip: Go to your CC on Saturday and hide as many cards as you want, just in case they sell out before you can get them on Sunday.
Mike @ Jul 28th 2007 7:14AM
Is the HD DVD an accessory?
Try this for 2 friends.
2 HD DVD's 179x2 is 358..then save $20 and use the CC $40 coupon and get 2 HD DVD's for $298 or $149 each... just wait till Aug 1 to get 5 more free movies.
todd @ Jul 28th 2007 9:29AM
I just picked up the early Sun. ed. newspaper and on page 22 of the CC ad has the deal "save $20 w/ the purchase of any 2 xbox live accessories 19.99 & up" under that it has the 12 month xbox live card, then 19.99 for xbox 1600 pts card, web id:882224092098, and then wired headset; So it seems that it is true. Ill see if I can upload a scan

teknomusik @ Jul 28th 2007 5:31PM
Dustin, you should credit speedy for this, he's the one that posted this deal first.

Could I just buy all the cards I want in one trip and get the discount for each pair of cards or do I need to make separate trips?
TheIcemanCometh @ Jul 29th 2007 1:05PM
This *IS* true - I got mine this morning. I got the ONLY FOUR cards in the store. Score!
Just make sure you take the flyer to the register when you go to purchase. At first, they rang up at the regular price, but when I showed the flyer to the cashier, she got the manager. The manager actually had to go talk to someone also. He said he would give me the deal today, but this wouldn't work in the future, because they consider purchasing more than 3 of the same item as a "bulk" purchase, and you can only do that online.
Be firm, but polite, with them and you'll get it.
James @ Jul 30th 2007 3:48PM
Aaaargh! I'm pretty damn frustrated by this at this point. I went to CC on Sunday, they were out, went to BB, they wouldn't price match "Bundles". Called another BB, same line, called BB corporate, same line. Called CC and asked when they expected more, got "Oh, we get a truck every day and we never know what's on it," which I'm pretty sure means "I'm too lazy to find out."
Called a CompUSA, they said they'd price match, went to the store, they said "Oh wait, since CC didn't have them in stock we can't price match" -- big waste of my damn lunch break. Stopped in to WalMart, they said if it was a price difference they'd match, but since it's buy-one, get-one (more or less) they couldn't match it. I have not had a great experience with this deal.
Anyway, my last ditch will probably be to go badger a CC manager to try to get him to special order them at the sale price, but given past experience I don't expect too much.
Chupacabra24 @ Aug 5th 2007 6:42PM
Did anyone ever get any of these? It's funny- the 4000 point cards were in plentiful supply (and were even restocked during the week) but the 1600 point cards were never seen at the 3 stores in my area. I smell bait and switch advertising, and potential class action lawsuit.
Chupacabra24 @ Aug 4th 2007 6:53PM
Sent a particularly nasty email to Circuit City today threatening a class action lawsuit over this crap. I mean, they won't even issue rainchecks. Screw that noise, now I want 'em for free.
Three stores in my area, and not a damn one ever had ANY cards this entire week. And I know both from calling, wasting gas visiting the places, and from the sales staff themselves. Yet, amazingly enough, they had plenty of the $50 4000 point cards, which even got restocked during the week. No, that's not illegal or anything.
