And so the Xbox 360
price cut rumor gets some more ammunition in the form of a leaked ad from Wal-mart. The tiny little picture to the right has been making the rounds on the internet and is supposedly a picture of a future
Wal-mart ad. And even though you can't make out any text, you you can see that it lists the Xbox 360 premium at a $349 price point. That's the rumored $50 price reduction. This could of course be an evil trick by Joe Photoshopper, but it is very close to what rumors we've heard. We've personally received tips from supposed advertising insiders stating that price cuts would be coming soon and vary from system to system. We've heard that the Core will be dropping to $279, Premium to $349 and the Elite to $459 US. But we recommend taking everything with a grain of salt to avoid disappointment. That said, we're gambling folks and are going to bet that a price cut announcement will happen by the second week of August. Wal-mart leaked ad, don't let us down!

it would be so much simplier is they put the elite at 399 the premium at 349 and the core at 249= to the wii
Devin Kofsky @ Jul 28th 2007 3:10PM
I don't think that is a Wal Mart ad, I think its a Circuit City ad
Specter @ Jul 28th 2007 3:18PM
They should get rid of the core, drop the premium to $350, and the elite to $430.
Edward @ Jul 28th 2007 3:18PM
first..cool
Nick @ Jul 28th 2007 3:26PM
If those price points are right, then they will screw the Elite. Why would anyone pay $110 more for a system just for hdmi and a larger HDD? At that price point you could pay slightly more and go get a PS3 and have the added benefit of blu-ray, or spend $110 less and get a premium along with a couple of games. That would be an awful price point for the Elite if the Premium really ends up at $350.
ryan @ Jul 28th 2007 3:34PM
just gimme smaller 65nm chips already. i don't want to buy a 360 wondering if it will bust on me. please more efficient hardware...like the old days.
Jonathan @ Jul 28th 2007 3:35PM
Nick, at this point, I don't think anyone who wants games would think "Wait...let me put this Elite down because if I pay slightly more I can get a Ps3 with BLU-RAY!"
Whoever is willing to go all the way to get an elite is the person who wants a 360 and to take advantage of it's media(marketplace) abilities. They're not just looking for the best value across the board, or else they'd go Premium Xbox.
Arno @ Jul 28th 2007 3:35PM
All I care about is getting 3400 points for $20!
Is that thing still on?
italiansmoke @ Jul 28th 2007 3:36PM
I'd still rather pay $110 more for the Elite, than to pay $210 for the PS3. Even at that price point($500-530), the PS3 still doesn't look attractive to me.
italiansmoke @ Jul 28th 2007 3:37PM
Circuit City, Sunday = ftw.
italiansmoke @ Jul 28th 2007 3:38PM
I'd rather pay $110 more, than to throw $210 more to buy a PS3. Sorry, but even at that price point the PS3 isn't attractive to me.
gibber9583 @ Jul 28th 2007 3:58PM
This is fake. It would say 349.99 if it were real.
Eric @ Jul 28th 2007 4:01PM
Eventually all 360's will have HDMI. I can't see Microsoft having 2 different system boards manufactured at the same time when the cost of adding the HDMI port is most likely minimal.
Squeak212 @ Jul 28th 2007 4:04PM
>> This is fake. It would say 349.99 if it were real.
I think so too. Everything else on that page lists a price in dollars AND cents, and Wal-Mart is well known for listing a goofy amount of cents, like the DS games in the corner for $19.82. Since the XBox only says "$349" I'm pretty sure it's a chop.
Jonathan @ Jul 28th 2007 4:04PM
Yeah, it has to be fake. It has a $ when no other price does, and it doesn't have two small "cents" numbers.
Fakity fake fake fake.
Steve-O @ Jul 28th 2007 4:06PM
gotta be photoshopped, there's no cent amount on the ad for the 360 but there for the DS and WII, anyway who fuckin cares it's gonna happen and probably soon - i'm buyin myself one when the price does drop and when they're kickin the new chip
Paul @ Jul 28th 2007 4:19PM
man i hope a price drop really happens although this obviously fake
Alex @ Jul 28th 2007 4:27PM
I certainly hope $20 off isn't the new price of the Elite, that is ridiculous.
sportsfan9691 @ Jul 28th 2007 4:43PM
this looks like a misprint to me, 349 or 399 whoever typed this ad must have pressed the wrong number...
kevin hardy @ Jul 28th 2007 5:27PM
i wouldnt mind a ps3 if it were free..or really cheap,i have an elite,a premium and i plan on getting the halo 3 edition!
sportsfan9691 @ Jul 28th 2007 5:59PM
how is this price drop going to help us if we already have a 360
bigd7387 @ Jul 28th 2007 5:59PM
Everyone who wants to get rid of the Core system, SCREW YOU. All I could get a 1 1/2 years ago was a core and I bought the HD, Cables and Wireless Controller seperate. Yeah it cost more but at least it doesn't have that gay ass chrome tray bezel. The solid white or solid black should be the only look, the chrome makes it look cheap as hell and scratches like crazy so I'm happy to have the core look. My son has the premium and I have the core but it looks better than his, cause I hate that chrome. Sorry but I'm ranting.
refinedsugar @ Jul 28th 2007 6:28PM
A price drop could be coming, but this is PS'ed all the way. Notice all the little inconsistencies. How bright and visible the 360 price is compared to the rest of the ad, there is no .99 cent thing at the end and notice how the 360 price is the only one with a dollar $ sign.
Erik Horte @ Jul 28th 2007 10:22PM
Well, I work at a GameStop and we recently got in some Premium 360s priced at $349. These are refurbished by Microsoft w/HDD. Perhaps Circuit City is advertising these?
Zeus the God @ Jul 29th 2007 5:12AM
No, its real, and has been confirmed with a Toys R Us add. Not to mention that Wal-Mart does that a lot with the prices. Prices that don't have the cents added into it, they add a dollar sign at the beginning. Really, check your next Wal-Mart flier or something. I guarantee you that this is true.
Zeus the God @ Jul 29th 2007 5:15AM

Its real. Take a look at the next Wal-Mart "catalog" thingy you get in the paper.
Mr BoomStick XL @ Jul 29th 2007 10:33AM
I have to say that a mere $50.00 price drop is crap!! MS has the chance to "Crush" the Sony camp and take sales away from the Wii (IF) they would have commited to a $100.00 price cut!!!! They would have raked in the cash and sold a TON of systems!! Just look at the August release list......it's AWESOME, mind you we still have Sep.,Oct. and the dreaded Nov. to look foward to!!(P.S. I mean dreaded in a good way!!)
MYPS3KilledMy360 @ Jul 29th 2007 1:29PM
this price drop is worst than the psps price drop a month back $30 on the elite $50 on the premium and who the f would by a core after hearing the complaints about how no HDD limits devs. this is BS i want a $100 price drop or do what sony did pretend to drop the PRE's selll them out then sell the elites at $400 and take both the core and premium out, by the way, my 360 died friday, july 27, 2007 RIP and i never thought i would be the one saying so soon i think its BS that the 3 year warrenty doesnt cover it. the graphics are awsome but its a peace of shit hardware come on i bought mine around the holiday this kind of bug shouldnt pop up error this error that MS you made an error why dont you just come clean and tell us what the problem is!!!! why couldnt i be the one to say ive heard that other 360s are breaking but ive never had a problem despite my name.
